PunBB authentification edit

remember helping me on that code : Extension talk:PunBB Authentication on the irc channel ?

I still have a small trouble there : mediawiki only uses the first capital letters, not very convenient for loggins that are made with capital letters, especially with such as "Firstname FAMILYNAME" (strange login, though, but imposed...) that become "Firstname familyname" all small cases after the first letter. Any idea of how to improve that ?--NewMorning 14:07, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help with PHP proc_open pipes edit

Hey Krimpet since you wrote the Lua extension and I'm experimenting with something similar (basically like Lua but using JavaScript instead), I was wondering if you could help me sort out an issue I'm having trying to get my extension into a usable state. For now I put it up on github (http://github.com/dantman/mwjs/tree/master), I'll commit it to wikimedia's svn when I get it to a reasonable point, for now I'm bundling it with a checkout of 1.15 to make things easy for me (just checkout and run the installer; cd extensions/js/; make all; to build the necessary .jar).

You can test it out just throwing a <js>print('foo');</js> into a page, it isn't actually to far into the js itself anyways.

The problem appears to be with pipes from proc_open. I'm handling things somewhat similarly to the Lua extension but it's not working. Testing it from the command line (uncomment the die on line 100 and purge a page using the extension to see the command being run to execute the jar) it appears to be outputting correctly (I have a minor mod thrown in to just make it output "output\0foo\0\0" which is just a valid dummy output return message which should be caught by a js tag, easiest way to test. However even though I flush the stream it seams that php is not reading that message, it doesn't seam to be reading anything at all out of the stream's stdout even though it's outputting a message. Documentation summit edit

Did you know about the Doc Camp this October?

"Individuals with a passion for free documentation about free software may apply to attend by filling out the application form and submitting before 5 August, 2011.... Accommodation and food will be covered by the GSoC Doc Camp. Part or complete travel costs can also be applied for as part of the application process."

I'm going to send a proposal to get MediaWiki into the Doc Camp and to have us do a Quick Sprint to improve MediaWiki's documentation. Please let me know if you know people I should include in my proposal.

New Orleans MediaWiki developers' meetup in October edit

I think you might be interested in coming to the New Orleans MediaWiki hackathon, October 14-16. (Not sure where you live; I know it might be a long trip if you're not already in North America.) We'll be working on infrastructure, such as ResourceLoader, AMICUS, and Wikimedia Labs, that supports MediaWiki, extensions, gadgets, tools, and other functionality. So it would be very valuable to have developers, such as you, there to participate, give feedback, test, and hack. If you're interested, please put your name on the attendees list at that wiki page. Your extensions edit

Hello, one extension written by you (or more) is listed on Git/Conversion/Extensions still in svn. The SVN repository will be closed in the future, and localisation support on translatewiki.net has already been dropped: please help update the list so that we know which extensions are still of interest and should therefore be moved to Git, and if possible volunteer to continue maintaining some requesting migration, or find someone else who can do so. Notice: Admin activity review edit

Hello Fran Rogers,

I hope that this message finds you well.

I am writing to inform you that you may lose your adminship (and other advanced permissions) on mediawiki.org because of inactivity.

A policy regarding the removal of advanced permissions (e.g.: administrator, bureaucrat, interface-admin, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. While initially that policy did not apply to this site, the mediawiki.org community decided in August 2020 to opt-in.

You are being notified because we have identified that your account meets the inactivity criteria stated in the policy: no edits and no administrative log actions for the last 2 years.

  • If you want to keep your advanced permissions, you should inform the community (at Project:Current issues) about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. A community notice about this process has been also posted on said page. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your advanced permissions, please contact the stewards at the stewards noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish for you to continue to maintain your advanced permissions.
  • If you wish to resign your advanced permissions, you may do so by filing a request for removal on Meta-Wiki.
  • If there is no response at all on one month after this notification, the stewards will proceed to remove your advanced permissions without further notice.

In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review.

If you have any questions, please let me know or feel free to message us at the stewards. If you feel we've made a mistake and your account is active, we'd also appreciate to let us know, and please accept our apologies.

Best regards,
--MarcoAurelio (talk) (via MassMessage) 22:13, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
