Traduction de contenu/V2
La version 2 de Content Translation (Traduction de contenu), appelée CX2, est une importante mise à jour architecturale de refactorisation de Traduction de contenu (CX ou CX1 dans ce document). L'objectif est de fournir un outil de traduction solide et fiable qui soit aligné sur les standards technologiques et de création de Wikimédia, et qui fournit une excellente façon de contribuer pour les nouveaux arrivants.
La version 2 utilise la surface d'édition VisualEditor, une interface utilisateur basée sur OOUI, et suit le guide de conception Wikimedia.
Par ailleurs, le retour d'expérience sur l'existant et de nouvelles recherches sur l'expérience des nouveaux contributeurs seront utilisés pour identifier les améliorations permettant de faire de la traduction un bon moyen pour commencer à contribuer à Wikipédia. Le plan est de remplacer progressivement la version 1 par la version 2 en plusieurs étapes. Un plan de rétro-compatibilité s'assurera que le contenu créé par les utilisateurs pendant la période de transition ne sera pas affecté.
Essayez la nouvelle version
La nouvelle version est maintenant celle par défaut. Vous pouvez accéder à l'outil depuis Special:ContentTranslation de Wikipédia en n'importe quelle langue. Lorsque vous commencez une nouvelle traduction avec le Traducteur de contenu, vous utiliserez la nouvelle version. Notez que la version précédente sera toujours utilisée quand vous ouvrirez d'anciennes traductions commencées avec cette méthode.
La nouvelle version est toujours en cours de développement. S'il vous plait, utilisez cette nouvelle version pour traduire des articles, et envoyer vos commentaires aux développeurs. Nous adorons savoir ce qui fonctionne pour vous, et ce qui nécessite des améliorations.
Utiliser la version 2 en production va créer du contenu dans les wikis réels quand vous publierez votre traduction, donc il n'est pas opportun d'y réaliser des expériences ou des tests, si vous ne pensez pas qu'ils donneront une traduction de qualité. Pour réaliser des tests plus expérimentaux, vous pouvez tester la nouvelle version sur nos serveurs de test. Ils constituent un wiki distinct (vous devrez créer un nouveau compte utilisateur car le service de connexion n'est pas intégré aux projets Wikimedia). Bien que le contenu que vous traduisez sur les serveurs de test provienne de véritables Wikipédias, le contenu publié ne sera créé et publié que dans le serveur de test. Cela permet d'expérimenter sans interférer avec le travail effectué dans ces projets.

Suivi des articles créés
Un tableau de bord indique les traductions publiées avec la nouvelle version et le nombre d'utilisateurs qui les publient.
En outre, les articles publiés avec la nouvelle version sont marqués de la balise d'édition #contenttranslation-v2 pour faciliter leur recherche (par exemple, en utilisant les modifications récentes) et évaluer la qualité du contenu.
Fonctionnalités
La nouvelle version comprendra une surface d'édition plus puissante, ce qui apportera de nouvelles possibilités qui ont été demandées à plusieurs reprises par les traducteurs utilisant l'outil. Cependant, d'autres fonctionnalités de la version 1 ne seront pas initialement disponibles avec la nouvelle version.

Les principales zones d'intervention sont :

- Des mécanismes pour le contrôle qualité. Contrôlez plus en détail les modifications apportées par les utilisateurs pour encourager les traducteurs à créer un contenu de qualité.
- Un excellent moyen de contribuer pour les nouveaux arrivants
- Prise en charge de la traduction automatique pour les paramètres des modèles, les textes de référence et pratiquement tous les types d'éléments à l'écran. Dans la version 1, la traduction automatique était limitée aux seuls paragraphes.
- Meilleure prise en charge des références et des modèles
- Possibilité d'ajouter et de supprimer des catégories
- Solide et fiable
- Correction de nombreux bogues qui étaient trop difficiles à traiter avec la version précédente
Caractéristiques manquantes depuis la version actuelle
Les caractéristiques énumérées ci-dessus sont possibles avec la nouvelle architecture technologique. Cependant, afin de pouvoir apporter ces améliorations rapidement, nous devons limiter les efforts de réécriture de tous les outils existants de CX1. Ainsi, au départ, certains des outils existants dans CX1 ne seront pas disponibles dans CX2. Nous avons choisi ceux qui étaient basés sur nos observations quant à leur utilisation courante, la valeur qu'ils fournissaient en version 1, et leur complexité, et nous attendons vos commentaires pendant ce processus.
Voici les outils actuellement dans CX1 qui manqueront initialement pour CX2 :
- Éditeur de traduction de modèles personnalisés. CX1 a ajouté la prise en charge d'un éditeur de modèles côte à côte permettant aux traducteurs de vérifier la correspondance de leurs paramètres. La mise en œuvre initiale a permis d'évaluer un concept prometteur mais elle était loin d'être complète, et la réécriture pour CX2 demandera un effort important. Initialement, la boîte de dialogue standard de l'éditeur de modèles fournie par Visual Editor sera disponible dans CX2 à la place. Bien qu'il ne soit pas optimisé pour le transfert d'informations d'une langue à l'autre, il offre une prise en charge de base pour la modification de tous les paramètres d'un modèle dans la traduction.
- Dictionnaires. CX1 avait un support expérimental pour la recherche d'information dans les dictionnaires pour quelques paires de langues. Les dictionnaires sont des outils très utiles pour les traducteurs, et nous allons continuer à regarder les progrès des projets Wikimedia dans ce domaine ce qui permettra leur future intégration. Cependant, ajouter un support pour CX2 aura plus de sens quand il y aura un plan clair pour intégrer plus de dictionnaires.
- Progress indicator in the editor. A progress bar showed in CX1 how much of the article was translated and how much was missing. This information will be still visible from the dashboard, but not while editing the article. Based on our observations from users, having it on the editor was not providing much value.
- Announcements of new machine translation services. The automatic translation card became highlighted when a new machine translation service was made available for the current language. This was especially useful in the initial stages of the tool, where new services were added regularly. We can reconsider this feature once the migration to version 2 is completed, and we plan to integrate new machine translation services in the future.
Plans
Content Translation a été développée de manière itérative au cours des deux dernières années. Au cours de cette période, l'accent a été mis sur l'évaluation des idées principales sur la façon d'améliorer l'expérience de traduction pour les éditeurs de Wikipedia. - Is aligned with the Wikimedia standards in technology and design. Uses the editing surface technology of Visual Editor (VE), and follows the Design style guide principles.
- Is a great way to contribute for newcomers. The tool provides a quick and easy way for new editors to start contributing. Even if the tool does not support dealing with complex content or situations, it always provides a clear path forward for new editors.
- Is solid and reliable. The tool is reliable enough to go out of beta for at least one community.

Plan de développement
À partir de février 2018, la feuille de route CX2 définit les étapes incrémentales pour achever le développement de l'outil.
Plan de déploiement
Un plan approximatif est d'activer la version 2 dans de petits wikis ou des sous-ensembles de wikis pour faire un contrôle qualité et de la déployer progressivement sur plus de wikis. La liste des wikis représentatifs peut être utile pour identifier les candidats.
Plan de rétro-compatibilité
Les versions 1 et 2 coexisteront pendant une période de transition. Étant donné que les traductions produites par chaque version ne sont pas censées être compatibles, les étapes suivantes sont envisagées pour éviter les problèmes liés à la rupture de la rétrocompatibilité :
- Les traductions commencées avec une version de l'éditeur seront toujours ouvertes avec la même version, quel que soit l'éditeur par défaut actuel. Autrement dit, lorsque la version 2 est la version par défaut, les anciennes traductions commencées avec la version 1 seront toujours ouvertes avec la version 1.
- Une fois que la version 2 sera considérée comme la version stable par défaut, la création de nouvelles traductions avec des versions plus anciennes sera empêchée. En d'autres termes, la version 1 ne sera pas disponible pour créer de nouvelles traductions, mais elle sera toujours disponible pour modifier les anciennes.
- Avec un processus en place pour mettre automatiquement les traductions au rebut après un an, la version 1 pourrait être supprimée en toute sécurité après cette période puisqu'aucun nouvel article ne peut être lancé avec elle.
