Hello Kaganer, welcome to mediawiki.org and many thanks for all your help up to now! Please let me know if you find other messages that need translation. A simple list e.g. on my talk page would be sufficiant, you do not have to create the single texts on dozens of talk pages then :-) --:Bdk: 19:48, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

--Kaganer 13:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Attention, сейчас установщик переписывается с нуля, так что писать на него документацию в данный момент — бессмысленно. Max Semenik 14:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Как корректно переименовать свой вики-сайт

edit

я совсем недавно создал вики-сайт ГРЭМПИС и честно говоря понятия не имел, что Википедия - это торговая марка. Также не знал насчет логотипа. Когда я ставил движок MediaWiki, он сам мне предложил название Википедия, я только добавил ГРЭМПИС Логотип поменяю, небольшая проблема, а как быть с названием - ведь оно участвует и во множестве ссылок? Как лучше переименовать? Есть ли что-то в maintenance скриптах? Wp walker 13:14, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Вопрос

edit

--Grigol 17:58, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

"int:" vs "MediaWiki:" in PD Help

edit

Hi Kaganer, I used to think similarly, but please read this reversal of my changes on 12 Jan 2010 at 18:38, by ^demon: http://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Help:Preferences&action=history. Thinking about it, the use of "int:" produces messages in the user's target language but in the middle of a page in English, a mix of languages which doesn't make much sense. So, I believe ^demon's idea is that we use "MediaWiki:message" in the English original, and "MediaWiki:message/ru" in the Russian PD Help, "MediaWiki:message/pt" in the Portuguese PD Help and so on. Hamilton Abreu 21:43, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Просьба

Добрый день. Хотел бы попросить о разблокировке своей учетной записи Fauust. Имхо, бессрочка за возвращение правки откаченной без всяких аргументов, это не очень справедливо. Тем более, что Вы вроде бы не возражали даже против серебропедии и говорили, что здесь нет четких критериев значимости. (diff).

Впрочем, ссылку я более возвращать не буду. C надеждой на ответ, Fauust.

--Kaganer 00:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

За это отвечает расширение Extension:ConfirmEdit. Насколько я могу судить, Викимедиа использует режим "FancyCaptcha" ("$IP/extensions/ConfirmEdit/FancyCaptcha.php"). Думаю, что всё остальное вы найдёте самостоятельно (тем более, что мне это всё придётся искать точно так же). --Kaganer 16:23, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

How to revert translations

edit

Hi! An unregistered user just did some spanish translations totally wrong. They were put directly from an automated translation tool and they're completely misleading and nonsense (some of them were already well translated, maybe they were a bit outdated, I don't know. Is there an option to revert all of them in one edit instead of revert each translatable section? I'd like to translate them but at this moment I don't have the time. But having them untranslated or outdated would be better than with such a wrong translation. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 09:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Help:Notifications

edit

Hello! Could you please mark this for translation? Thank you. πr2 (tc) 16:33, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Done, but please compare Help:Extension:Echo and Help:Notifications - these currenly indentically. Why do so? --Kaganer (talk) 21:00, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hello Kaganer, thanks so much for requesting translations of the Help:Notifications page! The main reason I created this separate page from Help:Extension:Echo is because the name of this new tool is 'Notifications' ('Echo' is the project code-name, which we used for the extension as well, but should not be used for end-users, who will not understand what it means). In other words, this page should be called 'Help:Notifications' -- not 'Help:Extension:Echo'. I also cleaned up some of the links, to make them work even when the pages are copied to another project. Does this answer your question? Do you have any further recommendations? Fabrice Florin (WMF) (talk) 23:28, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
In this case, page should be renamed, but no duplicated. Currently, Help:Extension:Echo should be deleted or re-writed, with "see also" link to Help:Notifications. NB: see new page Help:Extension:Echo/fr - maybe this should be translation of Help:Notifications? --Kaganer (talk) 22:34, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Project:Language policy/Migration list

Hello, translation administrator! Can you please watchlist this page? I hope to get some work done in the next few months. :)

Specifically for the next few weeks, I proposed translation migration as task for Google Code-in students, so we'll hopefully see some help coming from there. You don't need to do anything special: just check there or on Special:PageTranslation if there are pages to mark for translation and do so if they're ok, as usual. If you wish, however, in addition to that you can monitor the list more closely so that students are mentored and assisted even more quickly. Thanks for the sync, the docs and the message. I've only read quickly, I'll check the differences later. It would be very nice if you could, for each template which you think is the best of its kind across the wikis, file an enhancement request against Translate where you describe what it does and how it's used. Some features could then be offered by Translate, once we understand which are the most needed and generic ones. See for instance the patch which is up for categories, gerrit:148759. --Nemo 09:37, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Special:PageMigration

edit

Can you give me a quick explanation of how Special:PageMigration page works? I have not tested it. - Fabsouza1 (talk) 16:50, 13 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dear Fabsouza1, this explanation for You:
  1. This page may be used after a certain page has been marked for translation and after FuzzyBot walked all language versions.
Note: Migration will be easier if you first (before the mark to translation) check whether existing translations are similar to the original English text, and manually edit the structure of pages - to break paragraphs and lists, add the missing headers (even if empty).
  2. Special:PageMigration initially contains two input fields:
    1. for name of translatable page (without language postfix)
    2. for language code for which you want to import the old translation
  3. Press 'Import' button, and you see two columns with translation units
    1. at the left - the original English text
    2. at the right - the old translation mapped (as possible - by paragraphs and headers) with a new English text.
  4. All units at the right column is editable and moveable - to the right of each pair of elements is three icons for actions:
    1. "+" - add empty section after (below) the current (all of the underlying will move down)
    2. "↴" - interchanged with the next unit
    3. "trash can" - delete this unit (all of the underlying will move up); this irrevocable action
  5. After the required manual improvements, press 'Save' button and please wait for some time. While the button remains gray background, there is a process of import non-empty units. Once the button again became colored - import completed.
Afterparty 1: I usually check the result in the core translation interface - some of the units may be immediately marked as obsolete because of errors markup or if not all of the variable was added.
Afterparty 2: Translation of the page title will have to add it manually - I usually look to see if it among the "links here" or something of redirections.
--Kaganer (talk) 10:10, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Пример на тему перевода пространств имён

edit

Если переводить пространства имён, то результат выражений получается идентичным (пример проверяется на мета-вики для французской страницы):

{{PAGENAME:{{ {{TNTN|Translations:Meta:Administrators/Page_display_title}} }} }}
{{ {{TNTN|Translations:Meta:Administrators/Page_display_title}} }}

А если нет - то "PAGENAME:" корректно его отрезает. См. различия в шаблоне {{LL }} тут и в других проектах.

Invalidating valid translations

edit

After this minor edit (inside ...), you invalidated the translation unit "T:16" on marking the page for translation, then it caused invalidation for all languages. The unit should not be invalidated. Use "⧼tpt-action-nofuzzy⧽" checkboxes properly.

Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration says:

Invalidation. If changes are made to the translatable page source, the translation administrator will be given the option to "⧼tpt-action-nofuzzy⧽" for each section. If a section is invalidated, then the translated languages will get a pink background color for those sections, and a clock icon will be shown to translators in the translation interface. If a section is not invalidated, then no changes will be visible to readers of the translated pages, and translators will have to examine the section within the translation interface in order to see the changes.

How we will see unregistered users

edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
