Suggestions? edit

Where may one find the area to offer suggestions for editor engagement experiments? Perhaps here? I have a number of experiments I'd like to suggest and I'd prefer not to use the WMF staff's talk pages on enwp as the s/n ratio over there is awful. Thanks. 64.40.57.170 09:23, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

This question of where best to get feedback is actually somewhat unsolved for us, and your opinion is most welcome. My off-the-cuff evaluation of our options is this:
  • MediaWiki.org -- almost certainly no good because it's supposed to be a place to talk about code, not general strategic ideas. Plus, it stinks to make volunteers come here from other wikis.
  • English Wikipedia -- great for getting lots of feedback, but in reality not all our experiments are going to run there, so it creates a negative impression that our work is intended to be English-only. (Naturally, when any experiments are run that impact English or any particular Wikipedia, we have to put up documentation of some kind locally, so I'm just talking about for the purposes of idea gathering.)
  • Meta -- topically the most appropriate, but suffers from some of the same problems as doing stuff on a secondary wiki like this one.
Thanks for jumping in, Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 17:57, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply, Steven. If a place does get setup for suggestions, could you please add a note here? I'd be very grateful. Thanks. 64.40.54.198 00:13, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
We've started m:Editor Engagement Experiments and en:Wikipedia:Editor engagement experiments now. Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 01:38, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Wow! Thanks very much, Steven. It's much more than I hoped for. I really appreciate your support. Thanks also to Karyn and Maryana and everybody else in the Editor Engagement Project. I have a really good feeling about this. Thanks. 64.40.54.49 10:40, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Moving the timestamp edit

What ever happened to Timestamp position modification? The results seemed positive (m:Research:Timestamp position modification). Will that change ever happen? David1217 (talk) 00:15, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

There's some discussion of this at Talk:Timestamp position modification. Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 20:48, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Steven! David1217 (talk) 01:08, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

clarify distinction with Core team edit

As I understand it, "Growth" is more about attracting & retaining *new* contributors, while "Core Features" is about engaging and retaining *existing* contributors. If this is the case, could you clarify on the Growth page? Thanks! Sharihareswara (WMF) (talk) 13:10, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Editor engagement via uploading edit

Hi, I am seeking for statistics on how user's activity develops after doing their first upload through one of the different upload paths and during upload campaigns. Did you already aggregate such data?

Archive? edit

Do [1] [2] mean that this page is superseded and one should instead refer to the specific projects' pages? --Nemo 05:30, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Nemo bis: Yes, the team was dissolved. The pages of which projects? Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 16:14, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
For instance those linked from the page and in progress. :) Those projects/pieces of software don't seem to have dissolved as well, so until further notice I assume the same people are still responsible of them. Thanks for the reply. --Nemo 06:20, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
(Just dumping a link here from en.wp to avoid it gets lost. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 16:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC))Reply

#wikimedia-growth edit

The channel is unlogged... I guess it wasn't considered that important (it wasn't even linked from this page). Right now there are 20 non-bot users in it, of which 5 specifically for the channel and only 1 who isn't on other on-topic channels as well. Can the channel be redirected somewhere else? The only founder who isn't m:IRC/GC is Steven. --Nemo 06:28, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
