Hello,
I would like the translations administrator rights in order to be able to mark versions as to be translated. For information I have translated many pages in the direction of the French language (my native language). I think there are around 700 contributions so 350 translation contributions.
Thank you in advance,

- @Florian COLLIN: do you have any experience with the translation extension? Also, would you please demonstrate setting up a page for translation that is not currently translatable (i.e. add the necessary translate and tvar tags, etc.)? Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 20:43, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: , I don't know if we can say « experience », but since September I have been translating pages from MediaWiki regularly, and on translatewiki.net as a translator. I didn't quite understand what you mean by that. Want me to show you what tags to add, how to add them ?

- @Florian COLLIN I mean add the tags to a page so that it is ready for a translation admin to mark for translation (eg Special:Diff/4285498 is a simple case I just did) DannyS712 (talk) 21:19, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: , I admit that here, I did not put the translation marks, but since then I have seen a lot of people do it, and I have therefore learned. Like this:
<translate><!--T:1-->$1 (for example)</translate>

- Can you take a look at Shirayuki's followup? There were a few mistakes in your edit DannyS712 (talk) 21:37, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

- @DannyS712: What do you think about that? Florian COLLIN (talk) 22:00, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- Well, you shouldn't add the translation unit tags (T:1, etc.) manually - those are added by the extension. Additionally, section headings shouldn't have translate tags within them. See my cleanup: [2]. Have you reviewed Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example? DannyS712 (talk) 22:15, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- No, I don't have reviewed this page. Because I didn't know it existed, but now that I know it, I'll be able to read it all. Florian COLLIN (talk) 22:43, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

MediaWiki.org translation backlog is light, there is no urgent need for translation admin. I think Florian should wait to gain more experience before being granted (he has only 3 months of activity here). Translating and marking pages for translation do not require same skills. You can prepare pages for practice, admins will review your work then mark pages for translation. --Pols12 (talk) 22:07, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
