First Wikimedia Open Tech Chats 30 October
What Frequent (weekly?) open meetings of the Wikimedia technology community to discuss technical issues, architectural challenges and process improvements.
How We're trying a combination of Google Hangout on Air (an open YouTube stream from the 6th floor of the WMF office) + potential additional Hangout guest speakers + IRC for text-based communication. There's no attendance limit. You don't need Hangout to participate -- if you can play YouTube videos and join IRC, you're fine.
When Thursday, October 18, 2012, 19:30 UTC (12:30 PDT), 60–90 minutes
Where
  • Physical space: 6th floor SF office, "Collab" space
  • IRC: #wikimedia-dev-meetings connect
Food It's a brown bag - bring your own :)

Suggestions:

  • How do we integrate and deploy code? How do we grant deployer permission, and who do we grant it to? Is our deployment tooling good enough, and if not, how can we improve it (who will help)? What do other organizations (e.g. GitHub, Facebook, Mozilla) do that we don't?
