Thanks for your welcome Meno25 :)--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 10:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Shanmugamp7, I am developing a antispam extension, which automatically detects spam edits based on bayesian techniques. For that I need a lot of spam entries for training data. I was looking at the delete log, and you have marked many spam there. Is there any way I can get the hold of that data. Please contact me on anubhav914@gmail.com for details. I maybe better able to explain myself. --Anubhav iitr (talk) 06:40, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! edit

Much thanks for your help today, dealing with the Flow spam. Sorry it wasn't easier to deal with, but it did help re-prioritize this week's dev work! Best wishes, Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 08:24, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request edit

Hey Shan, a few quick requests;

  1. Autoreview is redundant on your account so, may want to consider removing that :p
  2. I was wondering if I could possible have 'Editor' as looking around I could help out a bit with areas of MediaWiki where I am knowledgeable with reviewing other work etc.

Thanks, John F. Lewis (talk) 14:08, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

  Done. Next time please use project:Requests. --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 14:11, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks and will do. John F. Lewis (talk) 14:12, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

AbuseFilter 41 edit

Hi,

Special:AbuseFilter/41 triggered a block on a legitimate edit [1]. I asked on IRC to unblock him but there was nobody available at that moment to tell me what triggered the block to avoid it. Maybe you could check it to tell the user to avoid using certain words / syntax. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 10:42, 18 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

The same user has now been blocked again because of posting a thanks message on this page... Maybe the filter is being triggered because of the username? This needs investigation. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 17:09, 18 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Sorry i wasn't around at that time. I know that this filter might have false positives but we had this mass flow spam attack, that's why we have enabled 'block user' temporarily. Now if there are no flow spam attacks we can just disable 'block' --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 08:52, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Apparently, the filter is matching that particular user, it doesn't matter what he posts. The filter should be edited to fix this problem so this user is not trapped but spam edits do. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 10:29, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
this is just a test to check whether I can post again here...--ContributorQ (talk) 11:39, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
It now seems to work. I don't know why I was blocked on last october... Anyway, thank you all for your help.--ContributorQ (talk) 11:43, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
... Too bad, I still can not post a message on the Support desk's page. I've just tried a few minutes ago and I've faced a warning message : This edit has been identified as spam... This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and has been disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Temporary mass spambot attack. How can I get rid of this ?--ContributorQ (talk) 12:05, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have modified the filter please try now. You should be able to edit, let it me know if it is otherwise, thanks--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 06:52, 28 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello,
At last, it is Ok. I have successfully post a message in the Support Desk forum. Thank you very much.--ContributorQ (talk) 18:13, 28 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

User:Shanmugamp7/userMessages.js edit

Hi. I'm just here to notify you that you're using deprecated tag called ‎<source>. Replacing to ‎<syntaxhighlight> is recommended in your personal JavaScript page. See Extension:SyntaxHighlight#Usage for information. Thanks. —Baran ☪︎ 22:36, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
