Hi Mateus, what is happening exactly? Have you successfully installed MediaWiki? Tisane 01:23, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the problem is that I want to change the URL, logo, favicon and want to allow sending of files in my wiki, and according to the manual, all this is done by editing the LocalSettings.php then need to find this file, and this file is in the config folder, but after installation, it's written that I should delete this folder to have total security (I have not erased). Hmm, well, you will need to move LocalSettings.php to its parent directory if you haven't done so already, and then edit it. You don't need to keep a copy of it in the config folder. MediaWiki will only pay attention to the copy that is in the parent folder to the config folder. Once you have that part figured out, some other useful manual pages are Manual:$wgFavicon, Manual:$wgLogo, Manual:$wgEnableUploads, and Manual:Short URL. And depending on the types of uploads your wiki will be handling, you may also want to take a look at Manual:$wgFileExtensions and Manual:$wgAllowCopyUploads. Tisane 03:05, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
It did not work. I installed the version of MediaWiki 1.15.1 because the xampp php was not compatible as MediaWiki 1.15.3. The URL of my wiki was http://localhost/wiki/index.php/ARTICLESNAME, but when I added the follow code:

$wgScriptPath = "/w";
$wgArticlePath = "/wiki/$1";
$wgUsePathInfo = true;

It did not work, Is must have /index.php before the name of the article. I just want to change the URL of my wiki for http://MYWIKINAME.com/ARTICLESNAME or http://MYWIKINAME.com/wiki/ARTICLESNAME. Mateus95860 Cont. 04:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Did you change httpd.conf per the Manual:Short URL instructions? They list a lot of different methods; if one doesn't work, you can try another. To be honest, I haven't tried to configure a short URL on an XAMPP localhost. In fact, I haven't been able to do anything with XAMPP ever since that PHP regression. But I think the same basic principles apply. Tisane 04:53, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
See w:httpd.conf. More importantly, go to Manual:Short URL, hit Ctrl-f, and search for httpd.conf. Another possibility is using .htaccess, IIRC. There's not much more I can suggest at this point other than, Just keep googling and playing around with it till you figure out how to make it work. Sorry, I'm not the expert on rewriting/aliasing; you may want to try one of these methods of Communication to get help from someone with more knowledge on the intricacies of this stuff. Internet

How I publish an wiki in Internet, not work just for me, but for everyone. I not find any article about this. Thanks. Mateus95860 Cont. 03:52, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a webhost yet? If not, you might want to try these guys; they're pretty inexpensive and I haven't had any major problems with them yet. Once you get hosting, you can just run one of the Simple Scripts to install MediaWiki, or install it manually as a subfolder of the public_html folder using Filezilla. Another option is cloud hosting. I think there is a way to publish it from home (without a webhost), but you don't want to do it that way; it won't be scalable at all, and you won't have economies of scale. Good luck! Could you please try to categorize the categories you've just created? --Diego Grez return fire 17:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, but you have to categorize them anyway. And if you prefer speaking in Portuguese, I can understand it, but don't speak it :P --Diego Grez return fire 18:05, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Olá Mateus, queria pedir-te um favor: as páginas que tens criado no código de língua /pt estão em português do Brasil. Por isso, devem ser colocadas no código de língua /pt-br, que existe precisamente para esse fim. É possível? Um abraço. Hamilton Abreu 00:04, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Obrigado. Hamilton Abreu 00:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't know too much about this, but maybe it has something to do with Manual:$wgMaxAnimatedGifArea? Tisane 16:13, 19 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
