Algorithm
Hi
Is it possible to have DPLForum display for every talk page? I'm a little confused how it works. Maybe it already works this way?
Pre existing Talk pages
editIs it possible for DPLforum, to list existing talk pages that are on the wiki, and not just ones that are in the prefix created by DPLforum? I see on undefinied.net all the pages in the example there are prefixed with DPLforum, so I assume all the other talk pages of the wiki are not included in that listing ( undefined.net )
Change main query
editHi, I am programist in Wikia.Inc and would like to change main query in DPLforum extension. Could I send You some sample to show what we want to change? Send me response to moli(at)wikia.com.
Append Table
editHi, (and sorry about my bad swiss-English). I look for a solution for this: in a article there is this table:
Name | Prename | Postalcode |
---|---|---|
Müller | Hans | 10000 |
In this table, I would apend a new row and filling this. By click on new Enty..., it should open a "windows" with the fields "Name", "Vorname" und "PLZ". After input and ok, the content should appear as new row in the table:
Name | Vorname | PLZ |
---|---|---|
Müller | Hans | 10000 |
new Name | new Prename | new Code |
How do I do this? (please how-to-example with code, because I am not experianced in programming). Please answer on this: w:de:Benutzer_Diskussion:Markus_Bärlocher Thanks a lot! Markus --77.180.75.200 09:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Extensions in Subversion
editAlgorithm, are you interested in having CreateBox, DPLForum, and String Functions committed to Wikimedia's Subversion, or if not another SVN repo? Dantman 00:14, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Absolutely. What's the process to do so? --Algorithm 03:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Basically I'm just asking about various extensions which I have some affinity towards and would like to see in Subversion because I don't like manually grabbing data from Wiki pages and would like to see them in a place they could be improved.
- I've got commit access, so basically the idea is I'm asking developers if they would like me to commit some of their extensions into subversion. Everyone is still free to poke Brion for commit access, but the idea is that I'm completely open to commit any updates to the extension that the creator has made to it.
- I posted a bit of a mail about it into wikitech-l, mailarchive:wikitech-l/2008-May/037674.html.
- I'll commit them a bit later after I've done some daily stuff. Dantman 08:13, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- RandomSelection, StringFunctions, and DynamicFunctions don't list license info. Could you change the code or MediaWiki pages to indicate what license they are under before I commit them. Dantman 10:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd rather you didn't commit RandomSelection or DynamicFunctions at the moment, as the former has 1.12 issues and the latter hasn't been touched since 1.7 was the hip new thing. I've just now placed StringFunctions under the MIT License, so go nuts. --Algorithm 01:44, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- 1.12 issues? Hmm, you know Wikia is using that extension, and some of the wiki there are using the new parser.
- But ok, I'll commit CreateBox, DPLforum, and StringFunctions. Dantman 04:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- CreateBox, DPLforum, and StringFunctions are now in Subversion. I'm going to ask brion to banch the code for the old versions of the extension. After that I'll fix up the extensions to fit in better with 1.11/1.12/1.13's new features... Mainly wfLoadMessages which would break all older versions of MW. Dantman 05:32, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- T_T Aww great... It's actually just a side note. But I was working on a WikiCode extension. Part of the idea was to combine the common existing types of parser functions; ParserFunctions, StringFunctions, LoopFunctions, etc... And unify them into one extension, expanding them to work cleaner, and moreover expand them to include a variety of more functions. The idea is to make use of the Code like Parser Functions in Templates more human readable, and also lighter on the server. Though, that's going to be a bit tricky now with StringFunctions under a different license (I'm using GPL since ParserFunctions is to, and 99% of what I program is GPL). Dantman 04:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Relax; the MIT License is GPL-compatible. --Algorithm 21:04, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Request for help with CreateBox
editHi - First, thanks for your work on CreateBox - it works very well for me and is very useful. My problem is that I want the default text to consist of the user's username, followed by a slash, followed by something unique. I've tried the following:
User/20241222065533
However, while the timestamp should in theory be different everytime the user uses the extension (given that the timestamp includes seconds), in practice the value does not change with each reload of the page that the extension is on. I've found these instructions for disabling caching:
Extensions FAQ#Recent versions
but I don't know exactly where to insert the given code. Can you please help? - Derrickfarnell 07:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Substituting surname
editAny idea how you can {{subst: a surname in the page title to DEFAULTSORT sort the categories? Its just I have a large batch of German politicians to transwiki on wikipedia and I want to do it more quickly. So basically when you create the page it automatically places e.g Fritz Baier as Baier, Fritz in the categories. If not I gather there is a bot that can default sort the categories by surname and fix it afterwards?
I'd imagine it is something like {subst:PAGENAME} but with a little programming to read the last word of the title and place it first. It would save a great deal of time anyway.Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- There is almost certainly a bot that does this. Check the history of an existing page to see who made the edit. --Algorithm 20:59, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello Ross, this extension is very very helpful. I am happy to have found it. I appreciate your work and would like to thank you! Cheers --kgh 20:46, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Hello Ross, i wanted to use this Extension but when I install it the font size of my wiki (1.16) become very big. What can I do? (i hope you understand because my english is not the best.) --62.117.14.9 13:47, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Your extensions
editHello, one extension written by you (or more) is listed on Git/Conversion/Extensions still in svn. The SVN repository will be closed in the future, and localisation support on translatewiki.net has already been dropped: please help update the list so that we know which extensions are still of interest and should therefore be moved to Git, and if possible volunteer to continue maintaining some requesting migration, or find someone else who can do so. Thanks, Nemo 14:55, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Algorithm. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Algorithm~mediawikiwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Register your Phabricator account or not?
editNow there are tasks regarding your extensions, I don't see any ways other than this to get new messages regarding them. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 13:45, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
DynamicFunctions
editIt seems that Extension:DynamicFunctions is not working anymore.I personally think that is great.Would you like to make it better by rewriting it?--Panda Panda Panda Panda Panda Panda Panda (talk) 06:21, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
