Same here. I can't publish some of my translated articles.

Setze16 (talkcontribs)

For your reference, I'm trying to translate from English to Catalan this article: "Ratification Day (United States)"

@Amire80 any idea what could happen? I have spent some time translating and I don't want to lose it. Thanks!

Amire80 (talkcontribs)

What happens exactly? The publish button doesn't appear? It appears, but the page is not published? Do you see warnings?

Setze16 (talkcontribs)

Hello, when I push the publish button, It keeps "Publishing" all the time but it never publishes. I have tried from 3 different laptops, from my personal phone... Nothing.@Amire80

Hoshi27 (talkcontribs)

Same thing, and it's bother me.

Saintfevrier (talkcontribs)

same exact thing here, for 3-4 days now. Very annoying!

Iryna Pawlovich (talkcontribs)

i have the same. are there any variants how to deal with such a situation?

Inteloff (talkcontribs)

Happened to me too, the button has been on "publishing" for half an hour.

Setze16 (talkcontribs)

Hello @Amire80 any solution? Thanks!

Igel B TyMaHe (talkcontribs)

May be there are no corresponding categories in destination wiki, this caused CT crash. You can access translated text with minor trash tags in translation debuggerhttps://people.wikimedia.org/~santhosh/translation.html Example for en->ca "Ratification Day (United States)":

fill Source language (en), Destination language (ca) Source title (Ratification Day (United States)), click FIND, click FETCH TRANSLATION, click WIKITEXT tab for source code. Then you need to remove all <section> tags to get clear wikitext ready to publish.

Saintfevrier (talkcontribs)

It was tedious, but it worked. Thanks! (and hope the bug is fixed soon, I'm not going through that again :P )

Hoshi27 (talkcontribs)

How can I look the ID for the text that I'm trying to translate? Like Franklin (peanuts)

Igel B TyMaHe (talkcontribs)

ID will appear if you fill Source language, Destination language, Source title and click FIND. Exept some cases, one of wich mentioned below (see Ranveig reply)

Mvp256 (talkcontribs)

@Igel B TyMaHe Sorry I'm new here. I have found <section> tag in the WIKITEXT, but I don't know how to remove them? How can I edit the source code directly? My translating article is this: en -> zh "Persona (TV series)" Thanks.

Omotecho (talkcontribs)

Hi, you first create your own userpage, then:

  • create "User:Mvp256/sandbox/translated_title" by typing into the search box at top right corner. A funny page appears and asks you if you create new page or not, click create.
  • Then, copy all lines shown at the external site as Igel advised you above.
  • Save, then reopen in edit mode, so that you can sort all <section....> tags, carefully delete them not to forget the closing >.

Hope it helps you, @Mvp256. And when you create your own userpage, you will also set preference and a notice will appear at the top center of the screen /e-mailed to your address, when someone pings you ( {{FlowMention|Mvp256}} or {{ping|Mvp256}} in other wiki projects). Cheers,

I have the same problem unfortunately. The publish button is active but after I click the publishing button, nothing happens. I am also looking for any advice tip. Thanks.

LyimeS (talkcontribs)

I wish it would give me the source code, I'd publish it as a common article.

Saintfevrier (talkcontribs)

see Igel's comment above: you can get the source code with this hack, but you have to delete a lot of code before publishing. It worked for me but I need a solution that doesn't take up so much time...

Ranveig (talkcontribs)

I have encountered this problem as well. I have managed to publish another translation fine, but have been unable to do so for Cille Gad from no: to nn: for several days. There is an error message saying that the source article has changed since I started the translation - it hasn't. I couldn't find the work in the debugger.

Divinglia (talkcontribs)

my publish button isn't active too..

Remontees (talkcontribs)

I've experienced exactly the same problem, see the other topic here untitled "Can't publish my translation".

Hoshi27 (talkcontribs)

When it will fix it?!

Mvp256 (talkcontribs)

Any solution?

Ranveig (talkcontribs)

So far, I don't think anyone's figured out what the problem is. I was finally able to publish the translation I mentioned above by copying and pasting the translated text into the visual editor. I had to do it separately for every paragraph, so it's not really a solution for very long articles. This kept the footnotes and text formatting, but not the headers.

Mvp256 (talkcontribs)

@Ranveig I think someone had found the problem. check this out:

Just copy the source code from WIKITEXT , paste it into a new page and clean all <section> tag.

I tried this way, it worked.

McYata (talkcontribs)

Many Japanese translators also reporting this issues and no solution was found. When I pushed Publish button, there are no alert or something but it keeps "publishing" forever. Yes it is possible to copy and paste to source or visual editor, but it means the loss of Contents translation's significance... there're very few merit of CT without publishing...

Saintfevrier (talkcontribs)

I successfully published a translation just now: no hitches, no delays, no bugs, everything worked perfectly, yay!!! Big thanks to the people who worked on fixing the translation tool :) (and here is the article BTW)

Hoshi27 (talkcontribs)

Really, I will try and thank you for the information.

Remontees (talkcontribs)

Thanks a lot, now it works for me.

YTRK (talkcontribs)

I've been having the same problem, and it was recently solved, at least partly. I am now able to publish new translations, but as for the ones I had been working on before the partial recovery, I still cannot publish neither on to the main namespace nor to my sandbox.

This is only a guess on my part, but the problem may be related to changing categories in the content translation. In the articles that I cannot publish, the categories section does not show properly and I remember changing them. On the other hand, in the articles that I have succeeded in pubishing, I have taken care not to make any changes there and the section shows without any problems.

Note: I am translating from English to Japanese

Pginer-WMF (talkcontribs)

I reported the issue in this ticket. Feel free to track the progress or add any other relevant details.

Thanks!

Pginer-WMF (talkcontribs)

Quick update: a solution is in progress. However, due to the code review and deployment cycle it may take some time until it is visible to users. Meanwhile, there is a possible workaround: remove the categories that the user added to the translation and try to publish again.

Hope this is helpful.
