Change font color for "message, discussion, edit, history.." links?
Hi, I successfully changed color for internal wiki links by adding this to Common.css,like so:
a:link {
color:#1AB7EA;
}
a:visited {
color:#1AB7EA;
}
I also changed all headings to the same color:
h1, h2, h3, h4, h5 {
color: #1AB7EA;
}
However, the links on top of the page (message, discussion, edit, history, delete, move, etc...) are still default color.
Could someone advise which style I need to add to change all those to color: #1AB7EA ?
Thanks. 93.136.124.243 02:54, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Plantillas de artículos
Hola buenas tardes:

Introduction of all category items in a single page
Can I use the API the fetch just the introduction of all the articles in a category so that I don't have to open all the links to read them.
Earlier I could do something like this by adding a list of iframes in a page with SRCs that look like "en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=xml&action=query&prop=extracts&exsentences=10&titles=Sattriya". But now chrome is throwing an error "Refused to display document because display forbidden by X-Frame-Options". Though i could get only the unparsed html text, it was enough. Pls help.. I need the up-to-date UsabilityInitiative extension
When I went to the UsabilityInitiative page to download the extension, I noticed that it is not for the current release of mediawiki. Where can I find the extension matching the current release of mediawiki? 64.130.162.169 18:55, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- The extension no longer exists, it was an group of different experiments during development of MediaWiki 1.16, the current development cycle is MediaWiki 1.21.
- Please read the notice on top of Extension:UsabilityInitiative. The different features have been extracted in to separate stand-alone extensions. Pick the ones you need and install them (the configuration is not backwards compatible, be sure to update your settings accordingly). Krinkle (talk) 18:55, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Limiting the width of the entire wiki + centering OR a substitution for max-width with Chrome
- http://bg-wiki.com/bg/User_talk:Yugl#Check_2
- MediaWiki 1.17.0
- PHP 5.4.9-4~precise+1 (apache2handler)
- MySQL 5.5.28-0ubuntu0.12.04.3
We're facing a dilemma because Chrome does not limit tables to max-width value. This means we either need to find a simple alternative or limit the entire page's width. Starting with the former, we've tried <div> and that works to a degree, but our spam filter prevents using that ubiquitously. So we looked into the latter, but when we limit the page width, the edit/discussion tabs/search tabs stay the normal 100% width, so you end up with a weird display. In short,
- Is there a non-DIV max-width for Chrome?
- Can we limit the width of the entire page, including the edit/discussion/search tabs and center the entire site? Kajikai (talk) 23:06, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

- The installer "only" set some values in the variable $wgGroupPermissions differently. I guess the clou is to not allow all users (I think theat are the user groups "user" and "*") to edit the wiki. Unable to make file upload working
Hello I've just installed mediawiki on my apache web server. So far everything ran smoothly, then only thing left was for me to add image upload.
Once I enabled that image upload module I wanted to test by uploading one image. So I did successfully upload image but for some reason it wasn't displaying on my wiki page.
I went to a upload directory to see if the actual file size matches the one on my laptop and it does so I guess file upload went successful.
However once I click on the broken image to access the image directly I get a internal server error, i.e http://mydomain.com:10000/wiki/images/f/f1/test.png :

Multilevel navigation in sidebar
Hi, I am new to this wiki, how does mediawiki support multilevel navigation in sidebar. Like: Country->State->City->localitity. It is said that if we modify css and skin.php, we can achieve this, but nowhere it is specified how it is to be done. It would be very grateful if there are clear instructions provided how to do this.

CSS stylesheets not loading correctly after upgrade 1.5 -> 1.20.05
If found some earlier threads about this problem, but I have not been able to reach a solution. My case is bit special as I have TWO separate mediawiki isntallations on same virtual server.
My setup
wiki.xxxx.com/it now running 1.20.5
wiki.xxxx.com/cd still on 1.5.x
if I look at working /cd main_page source I see this:
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/skins/common/shared.css?207" type="text/css" media="screen" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/skins/common/shared.css?207" type="text/css" media="screen" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/skins/common/commonPrint.css?207" type="text/css" media="print" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/skins/monobook/main.css?207" type="text/css" media="screen" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.css&usemsgcache=yes&ctype=text%2Fcss&smaxage=18000&action=raw&maxage=18000" type="text/css" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Print.css&usemsgcache=yes&ctype=text%2Fcss&smaxage=18000&action=raw&maxage=18000" type="text/css" media="print" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Monobook.css&usemsgcache=yes&ctype=text%2Fcss&smaxage=18000&action=raw&maxage=18000" type="text/css" />
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="/cd/index.php?title=-&action=raw&maxage=18000&smaxage=0&ts=20130507083517&gen=css" type="text/css" />
- -->
But if I look at upgraded /it source I see only this:
- <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://wiki.xxxx.com/it/load.php?debug=false&lang=en&modules=mediawiki.legacy.commonPrint%2Cshared%7Cskins.monobook&only=styles&skin=monobook&*" />
- <style>a:lang(ar),a:lang(ckb),a:lang(fa),a:lang(kk-arab),a:lang(mzn),a:lang(ps),a:lang(ur){text-decoration:none}
- /* cache key: mediawiki_it-mw1_:resourceloader:filter:minify-css:7:efb677ba611191e9f30fad6f893ae33f */</style>
So one basic stylesheet is loaded in /it but most are missing.
I have been playing around with without any result: $wgScriptPath, $wgLoadScript, $wgServer
Also there are no errors in http error log concerning this. So how do I get skins: common/shared.css, common/commonprint.css and monobook/main.css loaded in the new version? Regards TA 20:28, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Table inside div
Hi! I can't figure out what is wrong with my Mediawiki installation v.1.21.1. When i enter such text:
<div style="background-color:#b0c4de;">{| |a |b |c |}</div>
I end up with:
Instead of a nice wiki table wrapped by a div section. Is that even possible? Thank You for Your help. PlastNEO (talk) 23:53, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
You want to start the table at the begining of the line, not right after the div:
<div style="background-color:#b0c4de;"> {| |a |b |c |} </div>
gives you
a | b | c |
You might look at just styling the table, though:
{| style="background-color:#b0c4de;" |a |b |c |}
gives you:
a | b | c |
If you want it to take up a whole line just add "display: block" to the style attribute:
a | b | c |
☠MarkAHershberger☢(talk)☣ 01:45, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
In addition to what Mark has already said, one correction.
Don't use display: block;
on a table. A table should have (and has by default) display: table;
(among other things, this is what makes it behave as expected with children of type display: table-row
, display: table-cell
etc.).
Using display block on a table doesn't always cause significant problems (browsers probably just ignore it or hack around it) but you don't want to rely on that shady behaviour. If you just want the table to have full width, set width: 100%;
instead. Krinkle (talk) 23:53, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

- How are you running Scribunto? You should have a line like the following in your LocalSettings.php:
- require_once "$IP/extensions/Scribunto/Scribunto.php";
- The exception you gave comes from ContentHandler.php and indicates that you are missing what is on line 67 of Scribuinto.php.

Fatal error: Call to unidefined function wLoadExtensionMessages() in C:\xampp\apps\mediawiki\htdocs\extensions\flowchartwiki\checkfchw.php on line 41
As you can see, I'm trying to intertwine Flowchartwiki with Mediawiki, so my company can have nice processes available.
I'm running Xampp (with apache and MySQL) on a Windows 7 Pro (x64) box. The Wiki is working great! Until I tried to put Flowchartwiki over it. I followed the directions here http://www.flowchartwiki.org/wiki/index.php/Installation word-for-word.
The only thing I can do to get it working, is delete " require_once("$IP/extensions/flowchartwiki/flowchartwiki.php");" from the localsettings.php file. hello, I'm relatively new to the admin side of mediawiki. recently, one of my wiki's pages is displaying a connection error ("Internet Explorer cannot display webpage" in IE, and "The Connection was reset" in Firefox). there are no connectivity problems with the wiki host server, and all of the other pages are visible: this is the only one displaying an error. i don't know what the original content of the page was; is there a simple way to find out where my content "lives" on the host server? sorry if this question is rudimentary, i am new to this. thanks in advance! - Only one Wiki page is showing the error? Do you mean that Page_one_ok on the wiki works but Page_two_errors_out does not?
- If so, try adding
?action=raw
to the URL of the broken page. This way you'll see if you get the wikitext of the page. ☠MarkAHershberger☢(talk)☣ 19:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Yesterday I tried to create 1 new thread/discussion on the Project:Support desk page, but ended up with 4 copies of it. I see someone else had a similar problem in the last hour.
FYI, this seems to be the relevant bug (in Extension:LiquidThreads).
And in my case I renamed & completely blanked the unwanted threads, and they seemed to disappear from the main list.
P.S. I never thought I'd be using LiquidThreads to create a new thread about a bug when creating new threads in LiquidThreads, on the talk page about the support page on a MediaWiki software wiki about the MediaWiki wiki software by the MediaWiki Wikimedia project. create user groups and add members to it
Hello I have created 5 users ,user1 ,user2, user3, user4, user5 Here user1 is the admin user2 is a reviewer user3, user4, user5 is the editor Only user1 should have all the rights in media wiki ,,like he should be able to edit,delete ,create user groups, add members to the groups etc user 2 should be able to only delete ,edit the pages in media wiki and user3, user4 ,and user5 should only have the privilege to create a post but should not have the privilege to publish it without the consent of user2
I have created the user ,but i don't know how to create user groups as admin,reviewer and editor and assign these members to its corresponding user groups Stuck here for sometime, Hope i'll find a solution Fazeela Abu Zohra (talk) 18:20, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
