User:Diego Grez edit

Requested user-rights: Bureaucrat.

OK, here I go. I have been an admin here for a while now. I am not a MediaWiki developer (yet ;P), but I would like to help with username changes requests when needed (as it is suggested on the header, promotions are left to developers), and I think I have gained some trust working here with all of you. Thank you. Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 00:46, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm sure you mean well, it's Mediawiki for heaven's sake. 16 'crats is plenty for such a small wiki. You also just received your admin tools (1.5 months) and you have plenty of work elsewhere. This seems like hat-collecting to me, plus you're blocked at a major wiki. Just my opinion. Griffinofwales 22:05, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
While you are certainly right, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be worth to ask. Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 22:08, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whether 16 'crats is plenty would depend on how active those 'crats are; if they are not active enough to meet backlogs, for instance, then more could hypothetically be needed. Also, a user's success or lack thereof on other wikis, with different missions, rules, norms, etc. might not be a good predictor of how someone will do on this wiki. Case in point, Diego is blocked on eswiki but sysop on this wiki. Some great encyclopedia writers aren't as great at technical stuff (I'm probably in that category), and some great technical minds aren't as good at collaborating on an encyclopedia. • Sorry, but as a (fairly inactive) admin here myself, I oppose this request. The fact that you are blocked on eswiki really worries me. Also by looking at when you got rights elsewhere and how quick that happened looks like you are a hat-collector or at least that you just try to get rights to say you have them and have better chances getting unblocked on eswiki. You tried not long ago to become member of the OTRS team. Currently, it seems that you aren't even trusted enough to run a bot on simple request. I think this wiki has plenty active bureaucrats who surely can do the little amount of work that occurs here. -Barras 16:35, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also it is kind of funny that he blocks people that were blocked elsewere with this reason in the block, see here. Maybe we should do the same with you? -Barras 08:32, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Uhm I'm taking a look at your behaviour since you made a botflag-request on it.wiki, my suggestion is to wait more before appoint yourself for some particular flag: your indeblock on es.wiki has been made just some months ago, furthermore asking for about two flags per week you'll really seem an hat-collector getting probalby unactive with the older ones. --Vituzzu 15:18, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think so, I should probably stay active in the places I really like to be (Wikinews, and here), and things go and come, so I hereby withdraw this request. It was nice to hear all of this feedback, even when I don't really like to hear it all. Thanks for your comments. Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 15:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
