Free software leadership

edit

Hi, thanks for raising this important point at Wikimedia_Developer_Summit/2018/Participants. Do you know about m:FLOSS-Exchange? There's quite a lot of proprietary software that Wikimedia Foundation is using now (and that list is not even complete, for instance it doesn't mention proprietary machine translation). Upstream projects also lists quite a few free software project we rely on, not always contributing back. --Nemo 14:22, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nemo, and thanks for the pointers! I had seen those pages, but only for the first time while digging for documentation of existing practices in the course of writing my statement. I also just now found the linked page Fundraising_tech/Free_Software_Citizenship, which is a great initiative I hadn't seen or heard about before. I agree it is! I hope they'll have time to blog about it in the coming months. --Nemo 15:21, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
