SUL Merging

Hi, sorry to disturb you, but i would know if you can merge Myst account on mediawiki with the Myst SUL account, thanks. 21:55, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry about the delayed reply. I'm afraid that I cannot merge accounts; only Wikimedia stewards are able to do that. I can, however, rename local accounts out of the way. Let me know if you need the "Myst" account renamed on this wiki. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:01, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

User:Sunstar NW XP

Since you seem to be an active admin right now, could I ask you to block User:Sunstar NW XP? he's a known sock of User:Sunholm who is, essentially, banned across all wikis for constant disruption. He is currently blocked on several wikis, and makes claims on others (such as here) that those accounts on other wikis are not his (despite the single login). Thanks in advance, Either way 14:50, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

WhosOnline $wgDBPrefix

Hi, I'm going to try your trick of getting WhosOnline to work. In the whosonline.sql, do I have to remove '/*$wgDBPrefix*/' with my prefix mw_ or do I leave the /* */ too? Thanks Fader 23:54, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Replace /*$wgDBprefix*/ with mw_ since that is your database table prefix. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 10:33, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

--LainieH 14:16, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi.. I am interested in your Social Profile extension. It shows compatible with Mediawiki 1.13. Will it also work in Mediawiki 1.14? (that is what I have).. thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, the current trunk version not only works with, but requires MW 1.14. So yes, it should definitely work. Let me know if you need any help in installing or using it. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:20, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

CentralNotice Edits

Am a bit curious about why you removed a lot of the detail from the CentralNotice extension page. The majority of the detail I had was due to actual questions being asked relative to those topics. Did you feel that the level of detail was too much? If so can you recommend a better place to put it? --Tfinc 23:00, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Do you mean this edit? I fixed a typo (central-auth -> CentralNotice), fixed Trevor's username and removed excess spacing (i.e. == Design ====Design==) because it's relatively pointless - output is a <h2> in both cases. :) I'm quite sure that I didn't remove any actual information - at least not intentionally. But it's a wiki, feel free to revert. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Running a Script

Hello Jack, Im trying to install the SocialProfile extension in my wiki, but I can't run any command line in my hosted server, can I do it by another way. ( Sorry for my broken english ) --Andaluciars 11:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I don't think that your English is that broken at all. :-)
Anyway, do you have access to phpMyAdmin? If so, to create the tables, you'd just need to copy the SQL code from systemgifts.sql, user_board.sql, usergifts.sqluser_profile.sql, user_relationship.sql and user_stats.sql to your phpMyAdmin's SQL query prompt. You will also need to replace /* $wgDBprefix */ with the value of $wgDBprefix if it's not null.
Let me know if you need any further assistance. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Replace SocialProfile Avatars

well I am interested in using this extension called 'socialprofile' because it seems really great but is there a way to replace 'avatar' with another word like 'photo' for example. for instance, can i make it so that on the user profile page it show 'upload picture' instead of 'upload avatar' - do i have to edit more than its worth to do this or is there a a quick and easy way? thanks for you time- Gordon Mac 1 16:56, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

It can be done by editing the appropriate system messages. The messages you want to edit are:
--Jack Phoenix (Contact) 17:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

THANKS- that was alot easier than I thought. By the way, is there any information on user the extension called "random users with avatars"? I would like to show a list of users and their information on the main page or on another page. I have tried to figure it out from the listed install documentation but it has got me stumped. Any help would be great - thanks again. Gordon Mac 1 23:08, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep, it's a separate extension (with dependency on SocialProfile, heh) — see Extension:RandomUsersWithAvatars. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:32, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

SocialProfile - Overall, I can't upload a avatar because I don't know where to put the folder called 'avatar'

Sachein 22:18, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I put the folder (Avatar) in the folder called 'images'...but it is still not working. Sachein 08:43, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, I can't add people as my friends. example:
The avatars folder should be in your wiki's $wgUploadDirectory (which, by default, is the images folder). Make sure that file permissions are set correctly - webserver user (apache/nobody/www-data/whatever it's called in your OS) needs to be able to write to avatars directory.
What's the deal with friending? It should work if you're logged in to the wiki and $wgFriendingEnabled is set to true (it is by default on SocialProfile.php). Do note that you can't add yourself as a friend, or add a current foe of yours as a friend. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:28, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi, sorry to disturb you, but when my I tried to add my friend it didn't work . He added me and when I tried to confirm, by clicking 'accept', nothing happened. Also when I try and post something, nothing happened. The page stays put.

When I set $wgUploadDirectory to true. My website pictures go blank. when I upload a avatar, it goes to the stage where you chose a file and select 'upload file' then it goes blank (Special:UploadAvatar) Sachein 15:30, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

First of all, do not set $wgUploadDirectory (or if you do, set it to a proper value — it's supposed to be a string and not a boolean).
The friending problem sounds like an AJAX issue to me. Do you happen to use Firefox as your web browser? If so, I'd recommend getting the Firebug plugin for Firefox (unless you have it already) and checking what the POSTed AJAX request returns — if anything at all.
Blank page is a rather common problem. If possible, you should check your webserver's and PHP's error logs to see what might be causing it. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 15:52, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I used firefox/firebug. This is an image of the problem. Something about line 196 or something. [1] Sachein 15:39, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

This is what I got for writing on people's wall.

send_message is not defined
onclick(click clientX=624, clientY=578)TAC8BOrF...jlQ%3D%3D (line 3)
[Break on this error] send_message();

This is what I get for adding people as a my friend.'

requestResponse is not defined
onclick(click clientX=201, clientY=211)wmNG4taR...bfw%3D%3D (line 3)
[Break on this error] requestResponse(1, 1);

Sorry for annoying you so badly. Sachein 15:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

The 195 there is the value of $wgStyleVersion, MediaWiki's "cache buster" variable. :)
Anyway, you seem to be having some path issues there. SocialProfile attemps to include but that URL seems to be taking to a wiki page called "Extensions/SocialProfile/YUI/yui.js". Same goes for the file SocialProfile/UserProfile/UserProfilePage.js. Adjusting the value of $wgUserProfileScripts might fix the issue with UserProfilePage.js, but it won't fix YUI though, because YUI.php always tries to include the file $wgScriptPath/extensions/SocialProfile/YUI/yui.js.
And you're not annoying me, not at all. I'm a software developer, it's my "job" to answer people's questions about the software I've written. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 15:55, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean by adjusting the $wgUserProfileScripts. Do you mean setting it to true or false? Sachein 17:43, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
No, it's not a boolean variable. By adjusting I mean setting it to a path that works for your configuration...the default is $wgScriptPath/extensions/SocialProfile/UserProfile but that doesn't seem to be working for you. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 18:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Will this work, by having these extensions: AddHTML or Secured PHP and put the file content there because you said it goes to a wiki page. Sachein 18:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
No. Fix your paths/rewrite rules rather than trying to hack around the issue. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:07, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

What Can I say...

Social Profile works! I am so stupid. When I uploaded it using FileZilla, I didn't check the files. The files for example: filename.js were uploaded as filename.js.txt. When I changed it, it worked like a charm. But there is one problem, I can't upload images. How do I make the image folder writeable? In the Avatar folder, two files appeared: Archive and thumb, automatically. Sachein 10:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

OK, now there is another problem. Special:AllMessages isn't working. Sachein 11:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
My avatars folder has the permissions drwxrwx--- (this is on a Ubuntu box) and it works well. Assuming you're using a Unix box, you could try using the chown and chmod commands to change folder owner and permissions, respectively. chown -hR www-data:www-data avatars has worked for me (my webserver user is called 'www-data').
I really don't know why Special:AllMessages breaks, but I've definitely seen and experienced it in the past. I have a wiki running the newest version of SocialProfile and the issue isn't present there, so I really can't help you. It could be related to PHP's memory_limit setting though. MediaWiki requires at least 20M of memory, sometimes even more and Special:AllMessages is one of the most server-intensive special pages that there is. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:48, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I am using Core FTP, but I don't know how to make it writeable. I also have filezilla. When I right click on the folder Avatar what do I have to go on. Sachein 14:10, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I changed the image folder to 777. Same with Avatar and Awards. Nothing is working Sachein 14:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
They should be named avatars and awards (note casing). Anyway, it's been a fair while since I used Filezilla, so I dunno. Maybe check FZ's manuals and website? --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:39, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I forget to tell you that my system version is 1.14.0. Will that matter? Sachein 16:34, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
No, I have a wiki running newest trunk of SocialProfile and MediaWiki 1.14.0 and it works well. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:38, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I have noticed that Special:InviteEmail doesn't exist on my wiki. I downloaded it from Subversion. The snapshot didn't work. Sachein 10:46, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
You're absolutely correct, Special:InviteEmail is provided by InviteContacts extension, which is separate from SocialProfile. It is also a Wikia extension and I might consider fixing it in the future; it's not very high on my to-do list though. You probably should edit the appropriate system message to remove references to Special:InviteEmail. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:38, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Social Profile is like a temptation.

In my LocalSetting this is what it has:

## To enable image uploads, make sure the 'images' directory
## is writable, then set this to true:
$wgEnableUploads       = true;
# $wgUseImageMagick = true;
# $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";

## If you use ImageMagick (or any other shell command) on a
## Linux server, this will need to be set to the name of an
## available UTF-8 locale
# $wgShellLocale = "en_US.UTF-8";

## If you want to use image uploads under safe mode,
## create the directories images/archive, images/thumb and
## images/temp, and make them all writable. Then uncomment
## this, if it's not already uncommented:
$wgHashedUploadDirectory = false;

## If you have the appropriate support software installed
## you can enable inline LaTeX equations:
$wgUseTeX           = false;

A few miles down I have this (I installed a lot of extensions)

$wgExtraNamespaces[NS_USER_PROFILE] = 'User_profile';
$wgExtraNamespaces[NS_USER_WIKI] = 'UserWiki';
$wgUserBoard = true;
$wgUserProfileDisplay['board'] = true;
$wgUploadAvatarInRecentChanges = false;
$wgUpdateProfileInRecentChanges = false;

What should I add and change. Also when I did put 'false' for add as foe it still appears. The folder Avatars and Awards are lower case. Sachein 13:44, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

What do you use for image thumbnailing, GD or something else than ImageMagick? Because if you use ImageMagick, $wgUseImageMagick and $wgImageMagickConvertCommand probably shouldn't be commented out there. Foeing is quite hard to disable without hacking the source code IIRC. Make sure that the folders have proper permissions and that your webserver user can read (&write) to them. I'm afraid that's all I can say about this; I've never had any bigger issues regarding avatars and awards and I've installed SocialProfile on quite a few (Linux) boxes. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:30, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

HI Again - Here's my newest wiki-dilemma. I am working with social profiles and 'randomuserwithavatar' both are working most appropriately except there is one drawback: IS IT Possible to have the 'random users with avatar' show not only the avatar, but also a user name when on a page? This would function like the "relationships" section shows up on the userprofile page which shows an avatar and also a user name. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gordonmac (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Maybe change the line $output .= '<a href="' . $user_link->escapeFullURL() . '" rel="nofollow">' . $avatar->getAvatarURL() . '</a>'; to something like $output .= '<a href="' . $user_link->escapeFullURL() . '" rel="nofollow">' . $avatar->getAvatarURL() . '<br />' . $user_name . '</a>'; ? I didn't test that though, but it looks like it should work. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:30, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

wow this seems to be working just fine except for one little detail: the username function places the username on the right side of the img. even with the line break for some reason the username is still in the same line as the img. im going to keep working on this. thanks for the help if you have anymore ideas i will see if i can get it working. Gordonmac 23:25, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I have updated Extension:FCKeditor_(Official), trying to sort out old, pre-1.16 and current code. I believe the new version for 1.16 DOES come with the FCKeditor itself. Please check my revision of the extension documentation whether it is now correct. (In our case, installation first did not work because inside a mediawiki extension/FCKeditor checkout I had a manual fckeditor checkout; it worked after deleting the entire extension/FCKeditor and checking out fresh. Uncertain of course, whether other things were wrong as well.)

Furthermore: Is the Extension:FCKeditor (Official) the version that is talked about here and here? If not where is it? The developer meeting notes: "Templates are shown as placeholders so it is not full WYSIWYG. When clicking on a template placeholder, you see a preview of the template and have the option of editing the templates parameters. Reference tags and signatures are also shown as placeholders." I cannot find an "option of editing the templates parameters". If Extension:FCKeditor (Official) is not the wikia version, where can that version be found?

The placeholder symbols are currently preventing us to use the extension. Any template information is uniformly hidden in a cryptic "T" symbol. This breaks the use case of making editing simpler to new users - they are very likely to either go away, or simply delete such extraneous symbols. And users understanding this are still unable to use it, because they are not even informed which "placeholder" is what.

Our ideal would be, instead of new cryptic placeholders, to put wiki-text areas into the FCK-functionality. That is, whenever an html comment, template etc. is encountered, the editor displays inline something like <wikitext><!-- a comment --></wikitext> or <wikitext>{{Template1 | x = 3 | y = 4 }}</wikitext>. Ideally this would be editable. This would fullfill the advanced user use-case (users who understand templates, but are still bothered by hand-editing e.g. tables) as well as the newcomer use case (the wikiformat would signal: there is substantial information here, do not delete it, do not be confused because the rest makes no sense).

--G.Hagedorn 08:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Current trunk version of FCKeditor (the one from comes with FCKeditor (the actual editor). However, the FCKeditor extension available on is not the Wikia version but rather the one written by FCKeditor team (and with patches from the community). Wikia's version can be found on their SVN. As much as I myself like it, it just doesn't seem to be working. It uses a fair bunch of YUI JavaScript functions and Wikia-specific PHP functions plus it requires a lot of core hacks (that, at least on my test environment, messed up my MediaWiki). You could try checking out the newest copy of Wikia software and then grepping for wgWysiwygParserEnabled to see what parts of MW core they've hacked. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:24, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks for the information and clarification! --G.Hagedorn 08:35, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

SocialProfile 1.3 / MW 1.4 - lots of undefined variables

Hey there, I have installed SocialProfile 1.3 into MW 1.4. Install was straight forward, but using the special pages returns lots and lots of notices about undefined variables. Are you able to assist? I posted all of the notices and their special pages I could find over here. I didn't create a account until now, so they are signed with my IP. --Ganiman 20:12, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Ganiman, I hope you meant MW 1.14 as 1.4 is rather old and probably no modern extension works under that. ;-) Heh, that being said, your problem is that you're using an old version of SocialProfile instead of trunk version. These notices shouldn't be present in the current trunk version of SocialProfile (1.4). For example, notices regarding Special:TopAwards were fixed in r49174 (I later partially reverted that revision, but those bugfixes weren't reverted). The only E_NOTICEs that should be present in trunk are the notice about $birthday_date on Special:UpdateProfile, notice about $per_page and $page in Special:GiftManager and the one regarding $last_level variable on Special:TopUsers.
That being said, I'll try to get those fixed in future releases of SocialProfile, but they aren't the highest priority regarding SocialProfile — they're just notices after all, not warnings. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 10:03, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Jack. It finally dawned on me to check for a conflicting extension, and a quick grep of my extension folder revealed another extension which had altered error_reporting(). I've got all the notices cleaned up now, but I'm having an issue uploading avatars and gifts. The extension doesn't seem to be creating a temporary image in /tmp, and when it tries to copy it from /tmp to the avatar or gift folders it errors out. Permissions are set properly (if they weren't, you would get a warning saying wgupload isn't writeable instead). I'm not sure what the extension uses to handle uploads or resizing. --Ganiman 13:03, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Search function doesn't work in social profile

I was searching for text which was in the social profile fields. Even with a search in the profile namespaces and all namespaces it didn't pop up. Same thing on the example site (Halopedia): any text in the fields of the social profile will not be found by the search engine. Can you help me out, because this is a showstopper for my use: a social profile that cannot be found.- Bert

Social user profiles aren't ordinary articles (like normal user pages), so I'm not that surprised that you cannot search for them. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:10, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Image Thumbnailing

Well ImageMagick is not supported, my website host said. GD is what I use.

Do I have remove this then:

  1. $wgUseImageMagick = true;
  2. $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";

Sachein 16:03, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

You can either remove them, or comment the variables out. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 16:05, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you do me a favour. If I give you my username and pass, can you do it for me. Sachein 16:18, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

No, I simply don't have time for that. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 10:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, but a little late...

I read your comment on the Project Support Desk Databases but after an upgrade, the error has been fixed. Nsgaeverine 05:01, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Problem with Ajax Login

I am receiving this error once in stalled:

Warning: require(xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/html/iwikig/extensions/Collection/AjaxLogin.i18n.php)

file or directory in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/html/includes/MessageCache.php on line 808

Any thoughts?

MySQL 5.2 MediaWiki 15.0 PHP 5.2 mediawiki --iWiki 23:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Why is the "warning" line referring to a directory called "Collection"? Download the extension, put the files in $IP/extensions/AjaxLogin and then add require_once("$IP/extensions/AjaxLogin/AjaxLogin.php"); to your wiki's LocalSettings.php. AjaxLogin admittedly is one big of a hack, but the last time I tested it certainly didn't throw out fatals. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:46, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Change the language

I need to change the language of SocialProfile, is there a file I can translate?

Thanks,--Stefano Delle Monache 01:22, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

SocialProfile already supports many languages. Please note that some texts are shown in content language instead of your preferred language. Each component (SystemGifts, UserGifts etc.) has its own .i18n.php file where translations for said component are fetched. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:27, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, User:Jack Phoenix, I was able to locate the .i18n.php files, but how can I make a language default for all users? It seems that the language cannot be changed in the profile preferences. --Stefano Delle Monache 01:06, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Interface language can be changed through Special:Preferences, as always. SocialProfile pages, like Special:UpdateProfile, mostly use the user's interface language (i.e. if site language is French but user's language is English, the pages are shown in English), with some exceptions. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:29, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Avatar problem

Avatarproblem still exists. See below: (The extension doesn't seem to be creating a temporary image in /tmp, and when it tries to copy it from /tmp to the avatar or gift folders it errors out. Permissions are set properly .) Any idea?? --NandaJansen 07:12, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Make sure that your apache user is able to create new folders too (something like chown -R www-data:www-data /path/to/your/wiki/images might work). If that doesn't help and all permissions are set properly, I'm afraid I have no idea. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:29, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Jack, problem solved. The problem is that Mediawiki works with the GD-lib. Installed ImageMagick and escaped in LocalStetings: $wgUseImageMagick = true; $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";

--NandaJansen 18:33, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Social Profile

I am attempting to place your extension into my wiki. I am a semi-retired hobo (freight hopper) w/out a programming background. Blog: [2] Forum: [3] and the mediawiki: [4] We want to use the wiki for our in-house storage of all things railroad so to speak. So, I have loaded everything and when I put the stuff in the local settings it gave me a statement that it couldn't read the socialprofile.php. I clicked on the file and the msg said something about no maintenance? I found the install.php and I guess I don't know how to do the command line thing. I have a private host w/cpanel and all kinds of bells and whistles, but they are greek to me. We don't have much money as we are hobos, but I passed the hat and we are in hopes that you might consider letting us compensate you for making the extension work!  :-) I have been teaching myself the wiki and for an old timer like me it is really neat! I have sent an email to your jack at countervandalism dot net. Thank you for considering helping us! I am also sorry if I have botched where this goes! --Ibrrorg 04:41, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Is your wiki hosted on a *nix box? If so, check that your webserver user can access the SocialProfile folder and its files.
You will need to create some new tables in your database for SocialProfile. install.php script does this, but you don't have to use it: you can use phpMyAdmin instead. Log in to phpMyAdmin, select your database name from the right-hand menu, select the "SQL" tab and paste the contents of these files into the textbox: SystemGifts/systemgifts.sql, UserBoard/user_board.sql, UserGifts/usergifts.sql, UserProfile/user_profile.sql, UserRelationship/user_relationship.sql, UserStats/user_stats.sql and UserSystemMessages/user_system_messages.sql. Press the button and the tables will be created.
Now you should modify your wiki's LocalSettings.php, as explained here and configure some settings.
Here's an example of my wiki's LocalSettings.php:
// Additional namespaces, as required by SocialProfile
$wgExtraNamespaces = array(
	200 => 'UserWiki',
	202 => 'User_profile',
// Social tools setup
$wgUserProfileDisplay['board'] = true; // Show board on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['friends'] = true; // Show friends on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['foes'] = true; // Show foes on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['gifts'] = true; // Show personal gifts on social profiles
require_once("$IP/extensions/SocialProfile/UserStats/EditCount.php"); // Neccessary edit counter for user levels (points)
// The actual user level definitions -- key is simple: 'Level name' => points needed
$wgUserLevels = array(
	'Rookie' => 0,
	'General' => 1000,
	'Officer' => 5000,
	'Commander-in-Chief' => 10000,
	'God' => 50000,
$wgUserStatsPointValues['edit'] = 100; // Each edit in defined namespaces ($wgNamespacesForEditPoints) earns you this many points
$wgUserStatsPointValues['user_image'] = 1000; // Points for uploading your first avatar image
// Enable weekly & monthly stats (i.e. for TopUsers special page)

This (or alternatively, the extension's discussion page) is the correct page for these questions — I check this page quite often. Anyway, you can keep your money. ;-) Let me know if you need further assistance with SocialProfile. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 22:40, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I just got back from a hobo gathering; no internet in the 'jungle'!  :-) I have complete access to all my files through cpanel to alter/change files. First, thank you for being nice and speaking to me! It really means a lot to not only me, but some of my friends whom I am creating this wiki to help (all of us)! So, anywayz, I figured how to set the program up---Yaron wrote me about the Special:SMWAdmin page and that apparently set the dbases up? Here's what I get when I click my name at the top:

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "UserProfile::getProfile". MySQL returned error "1146: Table 'ibrrorg_mw.mw_user_profile' doesn't exist (localhost)".

Here is everything that is in the # Social Profile section I created:

# Social Profile
$wgUserProfileDisplay['board'] = true;
$wgUserProfileDisplay['stats'] = true;
$wgExtraNamespaces = array(
	110 => 'Custom_namespace',
	111 => 'Custom_namespace_talk',
	NS_USER_PROFILE => 'User_profile',
	NS_USER_WIKI => 'UserWiki',

// Additional namespaces, as required by SocialProfile
$wgExtraNamespaces = array(
	200 => 'UserWiki',
	202 => 'User_profile',
// Social tools setup
$wgUserProfileDisplay['board'] = true; // Show board on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['friends'] = true; // Show friends on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['foes'] = true; // Show foes on social profiles
$wgUserProfileDisplay['gifts'] = true; // Show personal gifts on social profiles
require_once("$IP/extensions/SocialProfile/UserStats/EditCount.php"); // Neccessary edit counter for user levels (points)
// The actual user level definitions -- key is simple: 'Level name' => points needed
$wgUserLevels = array(
	'Homeguard' => 0,
	'Vagabond' => 1000,
	'Wobblie' => 5000,
	'Hobo' => 10000,
	'Too Much Time' => 50000,
$wgUserStatsPointValues['edit'] = 100; // Each edit in defined namespaces ($wgNamespacesForEditPoints) earns you this many points
$wgUserStatsPointValues['user_image'] = 1000; // Points for uploading your first avatar image
// Enable weekly & monthly stats (i.e. for TopUsers special page)
$wgUserStatsTrackWeekly = true;
$wgUserStatsTrackMonthly = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['userboard-delete'] = true; // Allow sysops (admins) to delete other users' board messages
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['updatepoints'] = true; // Allow sysops to access Special:UpdateEditCounts to recalculate points for every wiki user

I'm not sure where/how to access the program w/o being able to first go into the profile? Any help is appreciated as it looks like I'm in the home stretch and this dialogue will also, hopefully, help other novices like myself!  :-) --Ibrrorg 03:50, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Special:SMWAdmin is a special page specific to Semantic MediaWiki extension, it has nothing to do with SocialProfile extension.
As I said before, you need to use phpMyAdmin (or something similar) to create the required tables in the database. You will also need to replace /* $wgDBprefix */ with the value of $wgDBprefix configuration variable (for you, $wgDBprefix seems to be mw_). I've described the procedure earlier; see there for instructions and maybe ask your host for more help, I'd assume that they can help with things like this. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 21:01, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

I set the tables up in myPHPAdmin via Run SQL querry from my cPanel. Files: system gift InnoDB 48k, user board MYISAM 1k, gift InnoDB 48k, profile MYISAM 1k, user relationship MYISAM 1k, user relationship reqeust MYISAM 1k, user stats MYISAM 1k, system gift InnoDB 48k, user system messages InnoDB 32k. Even loaded a fresh upload (that was the only way to get the final database file as it is only in the trunk version) and still get the same error message when I click my name. I am waiting for a reply from my host to run the install.php

I also get this error now: Database error From Project Magellan Jump to: navigation, search A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:(SQL query hidden)from within function serStatsTrack::initStatsTrack". MySQL returned error "1146: Table 'ibrrorg_mw.mw_user_stats' doesn't exist (localhost)" So I disabled the local settings stuff for now.--Ibrrorg 22:21, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

It would be worth $20 (USD) via paypal to simply have you do it as I am worried I might end up doing some damage to my files if I keep tinkering around. If this is possible (I also don't know if I'm allowed to offer so delete if this is taboo) please email me at ibrrhobo @ aol dot com. I have the cPanel has myPHPAdmin. When I asked about running install.php from the command line the people there said I couldn't just run a 'one-time' script and anywayz they explained a bunch of stuff that I didn't understand. Thanx for considering it or maybe referring the offer to someone who might do it if you don't have the time!--Ibrrorg 01:00, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I had the above error "from within function "UserProfile::getProfile". MySQL returned error "1146: Table " The fix for me was to run update.php again and it fixed it!

Hi, I filed a bug in bugzilla, but no one respond yet. I don't know how to report in bugzilla about that, so I'm contacting with you specifically to get a faster response; as you are a developer here so maybe you can take care of this. The bug is here Bug 21432. So, can you take care of this, please? And don't get angry if I made a mistake. Direct me to the right place or ask for information. Cheers! — T@nv!r_ (Talk) 03:08, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

It's true that I'm a developer, but only Wikimedia's system administrators can change configuration settings for Wikimedia sites. Bug #21432 has been assigned to a sysadmin, JeLuF, and he'll take care of it when he has time. You may also want to ask in #wikimedia-tech IRC channel about this. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 10:26, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. — T@nv!r_ (Talk) 14:48, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Appropedia assistance

Hey, I was wondering whether you are interested in joining Appropedia; we currently need someone with experience in the wiki-software; see More precisely, we need to add some extensions/semantic updates to automate a few things (ie member listing, ...). Let me/us know if you're intrested or if you know someone that might be intrested. User:KVDP|KVDP (at wikipedia) 10:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've tried to use extension FCKeditor on my wiki Wiki-Brest. I have some problems with pages which have "..." (quotes symboles) in the article's name. In preview the link become red, because the extention transform it in noexist.

Do you have a solution or a another version to correct this problem ? I precise that I use Mediawiki 1.15.

Sorry i'm french my englias is not prefect. --Filyg 12:09, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Filyg, I'm afraid that I can't help you with that, seeing as I haven't used FCKeditor myself for a long time, sorry. :-( FCKeditor in its current state is pretty much unmaintained; Wikia's RTE (Rich Text Editor) looks like an interesting project, but nevertheless it has many issues and is not usable on normal MediaWikis. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:59, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I'm about to translate MW FCKeditor to german. Do you have SVN access to commit file? --Pdcemulator 10:10, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes (which you would've find out by reading my userpage; the developers page lists only the MediaWiki developers with commit access to but we're certainly not the only MediaWiki developers in the world), but I'm not sure if you should do that, because 1) most translations are handled through nowadays and 2) FCKeditor extension is relatively unmaintained, so translating it might be more of a waste of your time than anything else. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:31, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for improving readable coding style! ;) --Kaganer 07:24, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

No problem, I was trying to fix an Internet Explorer bug, but ended up stylizing the JS instead to make it a bit more readable. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 15:12, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

SocialProfile avatars + Imagemagick conflict

Hi Jack,

I am using the SocialProfile extension on my MW 1.15 and am having problems with the avatars.

For some reason it does not like the fact that the avatars are animated, and causes them to glitch and flicker when displaying them. However static images work fine.

The strange thing is that the same images are fine when uploaded directly to the wiki, and it's only when they are uploaded as avatars that this occurs. Even though they are both being rendered with Imagemagik.

Compare the following pages to see what I am describing:

Anyway, can you please help me fix this?

Regards, BradLeeBH 14:35, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

I assume that you're using the 1.15-compatible version of SocialProfile (can't verify, because your Special:Version tells me to log in). Well, don't. Instead upgrade your MediaWiki to 1.16 and your SocialProfile to version 1.5. In the past, Special:UploadAvatar was quite a hack, but Bryan rewrote that special page for 1.16. I can't say for sure whether that fixes your problem (or not), though, as it's quite an odd one. I myself have had various issues with avatars in the past, but I've never seen the problem you have in my wikis. If upgrading doesn't solve the problem, I suggest that you file a bug in MediaWiki's Bugzilla. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:56, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me Jack. Yes, I am using the 1.15 branch with my 1.15 MW. So that is all good. Unfortunately I can't upgrade atm, because I have too many custom extensions that I have had coded for me. And it would be a very big undertaking to update them all. Since posting here I have also asked about this problem on the MW IRC, and they have suggested to me that it may have something to do with -coalesce (Although I have no idea what that actually means)? BradLeeBH 16:33, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Custom extensions are hardly a valid reason not to upgrade. If you have the space, create a new wiki (like or, untar 1.16 release there, copy your custom extensions over there, test and fix them as appropriate. It may even be that you don't need to change anything (admittedly, that's not very likely, but it can still happen).
-coalesce is an ImageMagick option. Maybe passing that to ImageMagick when converting a .gif file would fix the issue your site is having? Try changing line 265 of extensions/SocialProfile/UserProfile/SpecialUploadAvatar.php from:
if($TypeCode == 1)exec("convert -size " . $thumbWidth . "x" . $thumbWidth . " -resize " . $thumbWidth . " -crop " . $thumbWidth . "x" . $thumbWidth . "+0+0 " . $imageSrc . " " . $border . " " . $this->avatarUploadDirectory . "/" . $imgDest . ".gif");
if($TypeCode == 1)exec("convert -coalesce -size " . $thumbWidth . "x" . $thumbWidth . " -resize " . $thumbWidth . " -crop " . $thumbWidth . "x" . $thumbWidth . "+0+0 " . $imageSrc . " " . $border . " " . $this->avatarUploadDirectory . "/" . $imgDest . ".gif");
--Jack Phoenix (Contact) 17:01, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Well I do plan on setting up a test wiki at some point, and upgrading my MW. I just don't have the time right now.
I tried changing the line as you suggested, but it did not fix it.:/ Thanks for your help though. BradLeeBH 17:27, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Well it seems that this behaviour is also the same in MW 1.16 (using the branch version of SocialProfile). So I'm going to file a bug report. BradLeeBH 11:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey! Remember me? Long time no talk, just wanted to see how things are going, hope you're not too busy heh. Phil.e. 04:53, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Jack. I'm sysop on pt.wikipedia and eo.wikipedia and I was in the last Wikimania, in Poland. I'm looking for tools that integrates MediaWiki with other Web 2.0 resources, and I think this extension you've developped is very interesting. Unfortunately, the code which is avaliable at that page is not working on PostgreSQL. Do you have another version which would be able to connect to Postgres? Thanks in advance. Castelobranco 17:40, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Castelobranco, unfortunately SocialProfile does not (yet) work with PostgreSQL, as I'm not familiar with non-MySQL DBMS and nobody's developed the PostgreSQL schema for SocialProfile yet. You can file a bug about this on MediaWiki's Bugzilla; as far as I'm concerned, we don't have too many PostgreSQL experts (Greg, iAlex and Q come to mind). Maybe you could contact one of them about this? --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok, Jack, I'll try that. Thank you very much for your quick response. Castelobranco 19:29, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jack, Same Extension diffrent problem. I cant get avatars or girft images to upload? Thanks in advance

--Redeye 04:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jack, currently the old version of the file at /skins/common/images/ is distributed with the software. Perhaps it is possible to you to change this. Cheers --[[kgh]] 20:58, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

What do you mean exactly? Trevor Parscal updated the "powered by MediaWiki" icon in r76120, so MediaWiki 1.17 will ship with this new icon, just like the current development version (1.18alpha) of MediaWiki. Personally I prefer the old-school (pre-r76120) version and I'd revert the image in trunk, but many developers and users would disagree and my reversion would get reverted quite quickly. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 21:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I thought it was available right away since I have seen it around for some time. I was not thinking of 1.17+. I personally think that the old icon looks a bit quaint in the meantime. However the old icon was more visible though which is a quite a good advantage. Thanks for answering. Cheers --[[kgh]] 21:41, 2 February 2011 (UTC) PS I picked you randomly. If I had known...

Hi there. What is wrong with ShoutWiki? The server has been down all day today. Im not sure if this is the right place to contact you, but I didnt know of any other way to contact you. Thank you --Hockeyben 00:32, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

The datacenter in Poland has been having some issues since yesterday; their techs are working on the issue last I heard, but we sadly don't have an ETA of any kind yet. (You can also contact me via my English Wikipedia talk page or by emailing me at jack at or — the latter email is the one I use for ShoutWiki-related things.) --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:00, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for answer. --Hockeyben 14:13, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Shoutwiki is back up and running for me! --Hockeyben 22:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Why are edits newer than March 7 not appearing at the moment?Hockeyben 00:15, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

My sysop powers on awa wiki, which I gained after march 7, are also gone. As is the NHL wiki, which was created on march 12. Hockeyben 01:59, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

See our blog post for some more details. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:49, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Do you know when shoutwiki will be back up ? Hockeyben 03:54, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't have any news right now; whenever I have some, I'll post them on our blog, so you might want to follow our blog. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 11:58, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

'Will All edits done before march 7 be affected by the data loss?Hockeyben 21:46, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

At this moment, nothing is 100% sure, but from what I've heard, pre-March 7 edits should be just fine. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:22, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you... I was asked on behalf of the autopedia community. Do you have a timetable for when the wikis will be back up, and once they are, when the mediawiki upgrade may take place? Thanks, and sorry again Hockeyben 05:18, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm afraid that I don't have a timetable or ETA of any kind yet; needless to say, getting the site back up is right now our highest priority. Once the site is back up, we'll start looking into the remaining 1.16 issues (there shouldn't be many of those, thankfully) and once they're solved, we may begin updating the wikis to 1.16. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 22:49, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Great about mw upgrade. I'm really looking forward to vector skin. In the meantime, good luck getting the site back up.Hockeyben 02:27, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Is it still the MySQL daemon that's having issues? I am also able to get on the hub via this link. It doesnt seem to have been affected by the server crash. Hockeyben 15:44, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

At least the MySQL daemon is broken, but the tech team suspects that it's not the only thing. Our techs are trying to find out what needs to be repaired and how to repair everything that's broken, but it's quite a time-consuming process, sadly. The Hub that you linked to is actually an older version of ShoutWiki Hub, hosted on a different server (which used to be our main server in the past); that same server currently hosts our blog and Bugzilla. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 00:56, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the recent blog post. It answered a lot of my questions. Cant wait for MW 1.16 and the in-house features! --Hockeyben 23:59, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome! Let's hope that we can resolve this situation as soon as possible; I can't wait for MW 1.16 either! Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that one of the new features I spoke about is an extension (a rather cool one, too!) that has been written by me and is compatible only with 1.16+... ;-) --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:29, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jack. Do you have any status/updates on the server repairs? Thanks --Hockeyben 22:07, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't have any news. You might wanna ask Skizzerz as he's one of our techs. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 22:48, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me. I've contacts skizzerz. Hockeyben 23:53, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jack. Will Shoutwiki be back up within the next couple days? --Hockeyben 14:13, 2 April 2011 (UTC) Nevermind. Skizzerz just posted update on the blog. Hockeyben 19:39, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello Jack. Do you know if either Ice Hockey Wiki or Autopedia were one of the ten wikis that Skizzerz has had trouble recovering? Thank you --Hockeyben 18:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC) Wow! Seems just as I contact you, skizzerz seems to post an update. Sorry again - the blog post answered my questions.Hockeyben 00:12, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

When shoutwiki comes back.

Hi Jack Phoenix! I have a question. When shoutwiki comes back, is it possible for the staff (You) to make a global sort of "Helper" group or to make wiki adoptions for wikis that are inactive. For such a while now, I've been dreaming about becoming a staffer at shoutwiki or a helper to fix abandoned wikis. Oh please it would be my dream to become a global bureaucrat or a helper! :)

Eglinton 15:39, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm not a dictator, so these kind of things are not up to me and only me to decide about. That being said, I'd recommend you to write new help pages and enhance existing ones, help users with their problems and do things like that — if there's something I've learned with wikis, it's that people who crave for user rights are usually not the ones suited for said rights. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 22:48, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Status update

What is the current status on shoutwiki? Thanks Hockeyben 19:51, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

The techs will be posting updates on our blog as they make progress with the restoration. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 17:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

When you guys update to MediaWiki 1.16, will the premium skins from Premium Examples Wiki be included? Is it the MySQL thats currently the problem on SW? --Hockeyben 16:40, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

The current plan is to make premium skins available upon a small payment to us. As for the site's current problems, the MySQL daemon is at least broken — the operating system reinstallation will fix that. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 18:56, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Ok. Cool. I can t wait for the site to come back. Does one payment give you access to all premium skins, or do you have to pay for each one Individually? Hockeyben 20:17, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

We haven't finalized the details on premium features yet, I'm afraid. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 13:55, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Ok. The site has Been down for a long time now. Do you have any updates on how the tech team is progressing ? Hockeyben 12:54, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the blog update. I am excitied about getting the site up, so I can see the new features with the mediawiki upgrade.Hockeyben 16:48, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Aaaaaaaaaaaand we're back up! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 16:23, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

I am thrilled that the site, and most of the wikis are back :-). Will we get Monaco for free for the 36 days lost? Ie until August 6. Hockeyben 18:48, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

We're considering the options, but yes, you'll get a compensation of some kind; we just don't know yet what kind of it'll be! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:23, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Great:). I just hope that editing is re-enabled soon, and Autopedia is able to be restored (Its my 2nd most edited wiki). It'll be great to see MW 1.16 when the site comes back. --Hockeyben 14:19, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Do you know how the Mediawiki 1.16 upgrade is going? And how the Autopedia recovery is going? --Hockeyben 15:18, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Just saw the blog post, thank you!Hockeyben 20:23, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Editing is back. Hurrah! And Vector is up too! --Hockeyben 18:59, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello Jack Phoenix.

I noticed that your rights (sysop and 'crat) given on 2009 on testwiki have never been used. Do you really need them ?

Cordially, -- Quentinv57 11:57, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

They're not hurting anyone, are they? Besides, it is a test wiki after all... --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:45, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Personally it doesn't hurt me at all, but the testwiki policy says "Sysop rights are removed from every account that has not performed at least 1 log action within a time period of 6 months.". But I prefer asking users to know if they really don't need it before removing. So you want to keep it ? -- Quentinv57 18:27, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes please, if it's not too much of a bother. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:19, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Not at all. Moreover I have a discussion with PeterSymonds who told me developers don't have to be unsysopped due to inactivity. So everything is okay, sorry for disturbing. Best regards, -- Quentinv57 07:41, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

whats going on with shoutwiki? It's been down most of the day, except for around 10 minutes. I hope it comes back soon. Hockeyben 21:54, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

The datacenter messed up with our server's IP address, among other things...we're hoping to resolve this issue as soon as possible. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 20:54, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I hope this outage isn't as bad as the last one. :(--Hockeyben 14:54, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Disable avatars on SocialProfile possible?

Hi. I think this extension is lovely and would like to have it on my wiki. But sadly I can't get avatar uploads enabled and I don't think I could do it in a few days. So I just guessed that maybe could I somehow disable avatars for the moment to have the extension working right now and try to solve the problem in a long period of time? Or maybe it would be more complicated? Thank you in advance! 14:15, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Firstly, I think that this question would've been more appropriate in the extension's talk page — that way more people will see it.
Anyway, it really isn't possible to disable the avatar uploading function; there isn't a $wg global or anything to do that. You can simply not use it, although the proper fix to the issue is to resolve any and all problems that there are that have an impact on avatar uploads.
The most common issue with avatar uploading is permissions — the webserver should be able to write to and read from $IP/avatars and its subdirectories. If that doesn't help, take a look at the archived discussions on SocialProfile's talk page and see if they're of any use to you. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 07:06, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Request (فرامرز دانا --> Faramarz)

Hello! I have changed my username on and Wikimedia Commons and Wanna do same here, Please rename my username to "Faramarz" , Thanks --فرامرز دانا 17:30, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, during the rename process Renameuser warned that "User فرامرز دانا has been migrated to the unified login system. Renaming it will cause the local user to be detached from the global one." but I proceeded anyway, so your account has now been renamed. Happy editing! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 17:14, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks anyway, but I don't think that i can be useful here, because I don't know about MediaWiki very well! and my English is not in advanced level. I just wanted make my account globally. Thanks again. --Faramarz 11:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Sw blog

Hi. What happened to shoutwiki's blog and bugzilla? I can't connect to server anymore. :( Also, do you know when Skizzerz will be finished with the server, and we can finally begin editing again? Thanks! Hockeyben 02:24, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Hockeyben, we had to take the server hosting blog, Bugzilla and IRC offline for various reasons; you might want to see the official ShoutWiki Facebook page at for more information. We'll be posting status updates there for the time being. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:57, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for letting me know. Do you guys have an eta for when editing will be back? Thanks. Hockeyben 02:32, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately we can't provide you with an ETA. We did have an internal ETA, but we were unable to meet it due to a variety of reasons, including some people being sick and such. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:39, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Do you have an update on how the server migration is coming, and when we might be able to get back to editing?Hockeyben 21:15, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Whenever there is something, we'll be sure to let you know via the aforementioned Facebook page, so stay tuned! --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 19:55, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Is anyone even working on getting the site back up? It has been over 3 months of down time now. Instead of working on getting the blog to work, the focus should be on getting editing back, it's what everyone wants. --Hockeyben 23:25, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

We are working on securing your data and making sure nothing gets lost. This is an annoying and a difficult situation, because even I don't have all the bits and pieces of information that I'd need. We're doing our best with the limited resources (including time, peoples' availabilities, hardware, etc.) we have, but when there's nothing to report, we won't report anything back to you. As soon as we have something new and revolutionizing, we'll let you know via the the official ShoutWiki Facebook page. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 16:49, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
