Hey Happydog, about my enabling file uploads

I'm not sure if you are understanding what I am writing. I have not been able to enable file uploading on my wiki. I have yet to even try to upload a file because it tells me that Uploads are disabled on this wiki.

I've followed countless tutorials and pages of documentation to fix the issue and I am at a loss. Everytime I see a post about this issue, it's fixed within a matter of minutes but my issue continues to go unresolved. I have never run into someone that was unable to make the "Upload File" link appear under the Toolbox. BrianZ 18:18, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi HappyDog. Thanks for your response. I would like to create an account but the 'captcha' images are not displaying... do you know anything about fixing that? Thanks! -- 220.253.106.23 02:53, 3 July 2006 (UTC) -- Barrylb on MetaReply

It is fixed now. I asked some people on the IRC channel. -- Barrylb 16:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Request on a protected page

Hi, can you add the template {{Languages|About this site}} on the page About this site. There is three other languages of the page. Thank you :) ~ Seb35 19:13, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Move from Meta to MW.org

Hi, I noticed the MetaProject on Meta and have left some comments on the talk page. I would like to participate in the project if that is OK with you. Thanks. Lcarsdata (Talk) 09:12, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

A proposito, yo soy chileno y no hablo english (inglés). --Titogonzalez23 16:24, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Respondo sin ser HappyDog (I answer without being HappyDog). Pablo2garcia 13:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. No pablo español! :-) --HappyDog 14:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re-uploaded Image:Google-coop-extension-1.JPG

HI, I re-uploaded Image:Google-coop-extension-1.JPG, and tagged its copyright as PD —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BiGreat (talkcontribs) .

Fairly new here, please check my edit

Saw that it was missing so I added Manual:$wgDebugLogGroups. Also clarified Manual:$wgDebugComments. Let me know if my contribution was in any way misplaced or misguided. I've been configuring a small wiki farm of my own over the past several weeks, so it's a case of documenting for others as I learn my way around. MaxEnt 11:58, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

No - that's fantastic. Please add more! --HappyDog 16:30, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

move tag on labeled section transclusion

I reverted the move tag on meta:Labeled_Section_Transclusion, since that's mostly just a pointer to mw anyway, so it doesn't make sense to move it. -Steve Sanbeg 19:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Moving from Meta

Ah, didn't realise. Well, I saw some sort of tag, but couldn't remember what it was. Thanks, robchurch | talk 10:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Location of the PageSecurity extension

I created this extension on my personal page because there were several pages to build and I didn't want to publish them before they were ready. Today I'm moving the finished version to the right namespace. Thanks! --Fernando Correia 15:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

broken search results

It looks like the search results are pretty bad now, since the search index doesn't know that the extensions were moved, and there's no redirect at the old location anymore. I've filed a bug at bugzilla:8325, but it hasn't gotten a response yet. -Steve Sanbeg 16:45, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Context-dependent navigation bar

Tried to implement your recommendations regarding Context-dependent navigation bar and both portlet entries are displaying on all namespace pages. Initially had no success using MediaWiki:common.css, so tried editing the common.css file on the server (still with no success). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated...S3Indiana 20:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you using monobook.css? This was broken in the other skins until a recent update to MW. Also, old versions may not have the class defined (I don't know when it was introduced) - check this by looking at the source. Finally, some browsers are broken in their handling of multiple class names, e.g. earlier versions of IE. Try it in a modern browser such as Firefox. --HappyDog 23:02, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Resolved by editing MediaWiki:Monobook.css. Is there another browser except Firefox :)S3Indiana 00:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Extension:Simple_namespaces

Is the Extension:Simple namespaces relevant (or even usable) on versions of MediaWiki 1.6 or newer? Couldn't edit language/Languages.php. S3Indiana 01:10, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know anything about that. Contact the extension's author. --HappyDog 01:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Editing LocalSettings.php remotely

How do you access the LocalSettings.php file if your site is on another Wiki Server?

If you don't have access to the server then you cannot edit the file. If you have access then please see the FAQ for further help on this matter. --HappyDog 17:31, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question about main page

Hi HappyDog. I'm somewhat new to wiki's and I'm trying to emulate what you have done on the mediawiki main page. All I'm really looking for is recreating the look you have with the boxes ( divs ). For the life of me I cant figure out what {{{1}}}} is in some of the wiki code you have. IF I simply wanted a blank page that had 2 boxes such as the News and current versions box, and in that format how would i implement that. I understand templates, but the embedded htm l and that reference to {{{1}}}} is killin me! any help would be appreciated.

No PAGETITLE displayed on MainPage

Hi! Can you please tell me, how you got the PAGETITLE not displayed on the Mainpage? I'm searching for this for days and don't find an answer, also I can't find anything in the MainPage Source that explains me how you did it. You would really help me by giving me the answer or showing me where I can get it. Thanks a lot! Fabian —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.247.21.173 (talkcontribs) 12:55, 16 February 2007.

There's a trick which have been done in the MediaWiki:Common.js. As current, only 2 letter language code are supported, and it's need some modification to supporting the 3 letter language code, or other languages having the dash char. --Shinjiman 06:12, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Sidebar

No, nothing more to add for the moment. I'm confident that what we've got there is a much more intuitive arrangement, and I don't think we'll have problems if we want to make small changes to it in the future, provided we minimise the disruption of sweeping changes. robchurch | talk 21:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: LDAP page import

Hm, that's odd. While it's true that the first import failed, I was under the impression the software had imported fine the second time. If it didn't, I do apologise. robchurch | talk 21:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

ca project

OK, thanks! Allman

Special:Contributions/Macv

Hi, I noticed you seem to be active cleaning stuff up here, this guy seems to be importing stuff more or less wholesale from Wikipedia, which is probably not appropriate. I especially fail to see the utility of Template:ImportToMediaWiki at this site. :) cheers, pfctdayelise 16:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Would like to help moving extensions from meta

I've noticed it's taking a very long time to move all the extensions over and I'd be happy to help with that but would need to be able to use the special:import. --Nad 12:06, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm looking for a little help

I just created the Google sitemap extension but I then I read the tag at the top of the Extension:Google Sitemap article and got confused. If I have mediawiki 1.8, does it mean I already have a sitemap generator? I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how to create a sitemap for google for my site http://www.pop-cult.org/Wikitainment/index.php/Main_Page . I'd appreciate any help.

I didn't understand how to do the following either: You must create the file sitemap.xml in your root directory, and chmod it (change permissions) to 777 before running Special:GoogleSitemap

I supose I'll just have to create an empty file "sitemap.xml" and then fill it, just like I did with the extensions...but fill it with what? I also don't have a clue of what does change premissions mean.

I'm kinda desperated for help and I placed this same question at Extension talk:Google Sitemap, but then I realised few people actually post there, so I went with you, a user that seem to use his talk page on a regular basis. If you don't have the anwers I so desperately need, maybe you can redirect me to someone who does. Thanks beforehand. --Pop-Cult 22:15, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
