Hello, do you plan to import old translations for all languages as part of the GCI task? The requirements say at least one page completed to consider the task done, but this one is way bigger than average. --Nemo 12:13, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I already commented on the task's page. If you are ok with this, I would be glad if the task would be marked as completed because the <translate> tags already were a lot of work. -- Bene* (talk) 12:15, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have no way to list the claimed tasks, can you give me the URL please? I think yours is a fair request, but we can't just override all the old translations. If Guillom agrees, I propose that you continue importing all the other translations and that we mark one task done by you every 150? units imported. As you say, the hard/"intellectual" part is the tagging, so import-only tasks should be a bit more than the 120 units we thought (to be fair with other participants), dunno how much exactly. --Nemo 12:24, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Url: http://www.google-melange.com/gci/task/view/google/gci2013/5774907665285120 . But also to find the related sections is quite hard as it seems that the whole layout has changed. -- Bene* (talk) 12:33, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. You definitely must not add new translations, just recover all that's possible. If a paragraph is not the exact equivalent of the English source but conveys more or less the same information, just copy it and leave as is.
If 150 units is too much we'll just count 120 for each task and forget the one page requirement, this is obviously too big to force that part anyway. --Nemo 12:43, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm fine with this solution. So is the first task already completed or how many sections are still missing? -- Bene* (talk) 14:08, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
For the first I agree this is enough, link this diff on melange. No need to wait for official assignation of further tasks before continuing with the import though, there will always be more to claim. --Nemo 14:15, 27 December 2013 (UTC) P.s.: Consider that with a similarly complex page, commons:Commons:Licensing, I imported 800 units in about 6 hours work; you just need to "take courage" as we say in Italian and you'll get rid of the job in a moment. ;)Reply

When MessageGroupStats doesn't suffice, it's probably easier to just link the filtered contributions for a quick count. :) --Nemo 11:14, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! When you have some spare time, can you help with this? --Nemo 20:43, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, of course. Do you have any idea how the messages of the script could be changed so that they explain better what they are for? -- Bene* (talk) 11:30, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
The placeholder could be something like "Google for/in Wiki[media] tech", or it could become a hover text if it gets too long for a placeholder. Any shortening of "Wikimedia technical" is fine for now, the key concept is that you're being sent to Google. --Nemo 11:36, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
For now I changed the messages so that it is at least clear that the user will be sent to Google using this search box. Concerning the autocomplete I am not sure how we can fix the privacy issue. One option would be to disable the autocomplete feature for now because it cannot work without querying Google. Another option would be a little tooltip where the user has to accept that data is sent to Google before anything is loaded. -- Bene* (talk) 11:51, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've never used the Google autocompletion, on monobook I see the normal autocompletion. I think you can just remove it, IMHO one can use search suggestions directly on Google.com if one wishes so and we shouldn't let this block everything. --Nemo 12:03, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Notice: Admin activity review

Hello Bene*,

I hope that this message finds you well.

I am writing to inform you that you may lose your adminship (and other advanced permissions) on mediawiki.org because of inactivity.

A policy regarding the removal of advanced permissions (e.g.: administrator, bureaucrat, interface-admin, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. While initially that policy did not apply to this site, the mediawiki.org community decided in August 2020 to opt-in.

You are being notified because we have identified that your account meets the inactivity criteria stated in the policy: no edits and no administrative log actions for the last 2 years.

  • If you want to keep your advanced permissions, you should inform the community (at Project:Current issues) about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. A community notice about this process has been also posted on said page. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your advanced permissions, please contact the stewards at the stewards noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish for you to continue to maintain your advanced permissions.
  • If you wish to resign your advanced permissions, you may do so by filing a request for removal on Meta-Wiki.
  • If there is no response at all on one month after this notification, the stewards will proceed to remove your advanced permissions without further notice.

In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review.

If you have any questions, please let me know or feel free to message us at the stewards. If you feel we've made a mistake and your account is active, we'd also appreciate to let us know, and please accept our apologies.

Best regards,
--MarcoAurelio (talk) (via MassMessage) 22:13, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
