I'm not sure about that there is already a related task on Phabricator, so I decided to write here. An editor from the Hungarian Wikipedia signed that "insource" function is missing from the extension. Could you add this (or tell me where I find it if the gadget has this function)?

@Lea Voget (WMDE): I know that you don't plan to integrate this function yet, but I have an idea. If there would be something similar;
Insource search – field for text – search button (warning, see below)
the button could be a link to the old search engines Special:Search/insource:text format. I know it doesn't solve this problem but at least users could search in visually and we could warm them this field doesn't compatible with the others. Would it be work?

can you help us with letting us know the usecase that you would like to solve with insource:text? What are the situations that you would like to use insource:text an how often do they appear?
Apart from performance issues, we are also hesitant to add more fields to the form since it increases complexity. Especially if users are not too used to the intricacies of the wikimedia projects, we don't want to overwhelm them with our search form. But we try to find the ones that are most useful to all, and to make sure we completely understand the benefit of insource, your explanation of when you use insource and why will help a lot!
@Dodi123 said that this would be useful for searching references. As a bot owner, I can say that it's necessary for searching texts (e.g. for replacements).
In my opinion, a simple editor doesn't use it, because she/he doesn't know that this is exist. Bot owners and tech-editors use it more often, but they probably can use it without help. So, it seem we are between two chairs.
