ARamadan-WMF (talkcontribs)

@Triomint69,

Ich habe ein Ticket erstellt:

https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T374903,

Triomint69 (talkcontribs)

Guten Morgen und vielen Dank... Alles gut, so wird mein französisch wieder besser....

Grüße, Michael

Fix "sv-se" link for Spoken Content iPhone User Guide

1
Summary by Clump

Done.

Rrrix (talkcontribs)

On the English (en-us) version of this page, under the following section, the URL to the Apple Support article is for the sv-se locale, instead of the generic (automatic locale detection) version.

This causes a very frustrating side effect/bug, that apple.com sets a cookie with that (incorrect) locale until the user either clears their cache or selects their locale and navigates to the homepage.

===How do I get the app to read Wikipedia articles out loud?===

The app supports screen reading via the voice features [https://support.apple.com/sv-se/guide/iphone/iph96b214f0/ios built into the OS and device].

Can someone please change the link:

From: https://support.apple.com/sv-se/guide/iphone/iph96b214f0/ios

To: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/iph96b214f0/ios

The Apple website will automatically redirect to the users correct locale this way.

I cannot perform the change myself, as I do not have sufficient history with this user account to change a protected page.

Thanks in advance!

Reorder 'Explore' Card Order

Add the ability for users to reorder (and reset the order) of the different cards in the Explore feed. Feature exists in Android app.

Johan (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Thank you for taking the time to suggest this.

I am trying to test the widgets for feedback purposes.

The instructions say "To add Wikipedia's widgets, go to your device's Today screen and scroll down to find the Edit button."

Well, I don't see any Edit button!

Help welcome!

Hi @Trace – thanks for helping test out the new release. Apple has added a few different ways to add widgets, but the most common one from Apple's "Add widget on iPhone" support document is detailed here:

1. Go to the Home Screen page where you want to add the widget, then touch and hold the Home Screen background until the apps begin to jiggle.

2. Tap the Add Widget button at the top of the screen to open the widget gallery.

3. Scroll or search to find the widget you want, tap it, then swipe left and right through the size options.

4. The different sizes display different information.

5. When you see the size you want, tap Add Widget.

6. While the apps are still jiggling, move the widget where you want it on the screen, then tap Done.

Trace (talkcontribs)

Thank you. Done: widgets added. And working, so far.

Syncing of search list on different devices

Kammygz (talkcontribs)

Is there any solution of syncing the search list in different devices like Google does? I hope you’re getting my query. Let me know if there’s any solution or please consider it as a feedback.

ARamadan-WMF (talkcontribs)

Hello @Kammygz,

This is a very enlighting thought; I created a ticket on Phabricator-our ticketing tracking software- for this feature suggestion.

If you're interested in following for more details and actions, please check here T335671.

Show Home page when I open app

3
Aaron106 (talkcontribs)

When I close the app and reopen it, it takes me back to the article I was previously on and not the Home page. Is there anyway to change this?

JTanner (WMF) (talkcontribs)

@Aaron106 thanks for writing us.

The closest thing we have to this is: app settings > Search > Open app on Search tab toggle will bypass the state restoration.

This does mean it will open you to the search page and not the home page, which is closer to the state you are looking for while not completely. We are thinking about user flows throughout the app in the coming months. We'll keep this user story in mind as we tackle that body of work.

Aaron106 (talkcontribs)

Thanks :)

It would be cool if I can share a whole list at once, currently, I couldn’t find such a feature. That’s a friendly proposal, not a complaint. Sorry that I’m writing this without login in, couldn’t remember my password, and the resetting password email, never came((

91.200.234.172 (talkcontribs)

I forgot to mention that I’m talking about iOS app

ARamadan-WMF (talkcontribs)

Hey there,

Wikipedia's apps teams are working actually on this feature, pls check this link for more information, we hope this will be available soon for both Android and iOS.

As for the resetting password, try doing the process from this link on the web.

Your comments and contributions are welcomed all the time.

Contributing to the iOS app

EliotWL (talkcontribs)

The FAQ says about if you want to help with the iOS app: “Please do. Our repository is available on GitHub. Please see the README for information on how to contribute.”

And does not link at all to the github nor the readme. Should it probably? And can I get a link?

ARamadan-WMF (talkcontribs)

Hey @EliotWL,

I received your inquiry and will get back to you with the answer very soon.

Need to give someone credit on an articlr

Krustyos1 (talkcontribs)

I need to give someone credit on an article that contradicts an established article already existing in Wikipedia

Johan (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Hey @Krustyos1, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by giving someone credit here? If there is a problem in a Wikipedia article, you can try writing on the talk page of the article with the incorrect fact and explain the issue, or edit the article directly yourself.

Icons in editing mode not documented

2
Technophant (talkcontribs)

I believe I’ve figured out what they all do and have tried press and hold to see if there’s an alternate mode. I’m waiting to use the automatic citation feature but it seems like manual source citations knowledge is needed. Please help me find this feature or add it to feature requests and include in FAQ that this isn’t available yet. Using beta v6.8.2 (1837) Ty Technophant (talk) 19:39, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

Johan (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Thanks for reminding us! We'll make sure to add it.
