Wish list
editI wish there was a way to name pages that need to be translated and show the amount translated for each language. So it would say something like
Portal | FAQ | |
---|---|---|
Swedish | 0% | 94% |
Polish | 0% | 100% |
Japanese | 97% | 17% |
It would be too much work to update it every day, but if there were an automatic way to get these numbers, it would make it much easier to know how things were progressing. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:38, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- This would be very cool, I agree. The translation extension obviously can at least show in quarters how much has been done, judging by the header on the pages that have it. Whether that's decided by the user, or automagic, I'm not sure. Let's ask User:Guillom. PEarley (WMF) (talk) 22:45, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- So, I don't know of a way to show progress of translation across several pages (e.g. track the progress of all VE documents in Swedish) but it's possible to show the progress in all languages for a given page. I've added the tables at VisualEditor/TranslationCentral/Overview. There's more information at Help:Extension:Translate/Statistics and reporting if you want to dig deeper. guillom 07:35, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- Guillom, excellent! This is really great. I think I might just transclude this to the main TC page - it's useful for translators to look at, incentivizes, gives an overview of what needs to be done. Yay Translation Extension! PEarley (WMF) (talk) 16:39, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'll just add for the record, almost all of the pages are translated for Italian, for example, but we would add them directly to our wiki, merge them and so on, because I felt it was more useful in some cases, and not all of us are into this extension, plus we actually ran into a few known bugs when we tried. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 21:02, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Ideally, the good translations or explanations over there will come back here. These pages will be wanted for other, non-Wikipedia projects that decide to install VisualEditor in the future. Getting them at it.wp is the urgent task, but getting them back here eventually is a goal, too. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 17:27, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
