is Wikimedia Commons using a standard MediaWiki ? because the interface for managing the upload and the image collection seems somewhat different... Thanks for any info

As far as I know, it's the SVN trunk copy (as opposed to a release version) used by all Wikimedia wikis, with MediaWiki:Licenses edited to include a list of common free content licenses on the upload form -- see commons:MediaWiki:Licenses. There may also be some other substantial modifications of the MediaWiki namespace, but these can be done by any sysop -- see commons:Special:Allmessages.--Eloquence 21:36, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

typo: bottom left or bottom right corner ?

In sentence "Sites of the Wikimedia Foundation Inc. generally display this icon near the bottom left corner of their pages." I think it is rather "bottom right corner of their pages."
