@Sonkiki Do you have any more of the files for these, or know who we could ask? I see some of the files are linked here, which is great.

But it would be great to go through and try to find the rest, particularly for the ones that could be reused. E.g. there was a poster about the Friendly Space Policy. We should update that to also mention the Code of Conduct.

If possible, it would be best to request the original vector (typically SVG) files from the designer who made each file. This is the original file, e.g. from Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. Some of them are only available as raster (JPG), e.g. File:Hackathon Vienna Invitation.jpg. This loses quality when copies are made and is difficult to edit.

I have been on holiday and somewhat off the grid. I appreciate that you probably wanted these files for Wikimania 2017 - hope you could make it work without too much of a hassle anyways!

On the topic of uploading more designs from the Wikimedia Hackathon 2017 Vienna: When I created the handbook, I did my best to collect all the design-files I could get from the Wikimedia Austria team and the designer who created them. In many cases, the reason why there is no (better quality) file is, because the original is in a proprietary format (.ai Adobe Illustrator or similar).

That being said, I will relay your message and maybe there are indeed a few files we could still upload, or at least leave a note like "If you need this file in better quality, contact xy".

@Sonkiki No worries. I was not doing this for Wikimania (I actually posted after Wikimania), though it may be relevant to future teams. I was just reviewing the handbook in connection to the Code of Conduct, but I also made other comments while doing so.

Although Adobe Illustrator files can't be uploaded here directly, they can be converted to SVG. Adobe Illustrator can export to SVG, or Inkscape (an open source tool) can open .ai files then save as SVG.

Hi @Mattflaschen-WMF - our designer has done just that, but for the booklet, and I understand that an .svg file will be uploaded soon. So I conclude all of this by saying that I did the best I could to get everything uploaded! Thanks for you comments Matt, hope to see you again at a hackathon soon!

@Mattflaschen-WMFSo sorry for the late answer. I can't upload the svg-file for the guide, even not to our wordpress-website. On wikis I get following error message:

" href attributes in SVG files are only allowed to link to http:// or https:// targets, found <imagehttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlink:href="8d3b6be53f25f3a7.jpg""

Annemarie, I think that means it is trying to load a local file, e.g. a photo/image/map that you have stored in the same folder/directory. See screenshot of what I get in an SVG editor.

I think the best option, would be to:

1. Delete the linked-images, and upload the SVG with some empty areas. (or add "photo placeholder" text, or similar)
2. Write details in the description-page, about which images were included.
3. Also upload a PNG/JPG of the complete (with images) version, for clarity.

@Annemarie Buchmann (WMAT) I agree with Quiddity (WMF) that this is the cause of the issue. Sorry the error message isn't very clear. I've proposed a change to improve it.

However, I think the best solution is to embed the images when exporting. If you are using recent Illustrator (I'm not sure the minimum required version for this), you should see a choice to embed next to Images in the SVG export dialog. See https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/svg.html#enhancements .

If you do that, the JPG files will be embedded into the SVG, and you should be able to upload it here.
