Who is allowed to translate?
editHey, I have a question. I recently noticed that many existing pages in English do not have a German translation. As a native speaker of German, I would love to translate them. My English is not perfect, but good enough to translate these pages. Furthermore, I have worked in some wikis (sry, but privacy means a lot to me) and understanf a lot of this text. So, I am asking now: Am I allowed to do this? Do I need to do anything or are there any things that I have to be able to?--The Evil IP address 03:08, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Go ahead and translate :) -- just be sure to follow the language policy. --Skizzerz 03:45, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for answering, I'm gonna translate them within the next days if I'm fast enough.--The Evil IP address 15:35, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Can we have a danish translation?
editI van se that there dont are a danish translation. Is it possible that we can have a danish translation?
Tagalog would be interesting
editII have many friends in the Philippines, a country with more than 80 mill. inhabitants of which most speak Tagalog (Filipino). I am sure that MediaWiki is already in use there and more will follow.
Therefore a Tagalog translation project would be of great interest. I myself cannot drive this project but I might search for skilled candidates if you are interested.
Kind regards

editSomeone should expand this page with information about what MW.org currently translates, or is that what Project:Language_policy is? πr2 (t • c) 02:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Let's stop breaking pages when templates i18n-ize

Ignominious translations
editLook at Special:diff/1156701/1172701: the editor said «Voir aussi», gallicized two more words and disappeared, but the link to allegedly French translation is prominent in Manual:$wgAllowCopyUploads’s header. Because action=edit
is barred, I even can’t nominate the page for deletion. How should such pages be dealt with? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 13:04, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
This was just a manual I needed for i18n on WM Commons, but extensive contributions of Macofe (talk · contribs) likely resulted in thousands such pages. Oh, the {{User }} was broken just minutes ago – this wiki is a cool place. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 13:24, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
