Project:Requests for permissions/User rights/AlvaroMolina

Requested user-rights: Translation administrator.

Hi, I would like to request translation administrator permission in order to help with page marking to translate with pending changes in Special:PageTranslation and maybe to prepare new pages. I have experience with this permission in other projects and I have read the corresponding manuals. Thanks. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 17:04, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for offering to help. What's your approach for translation invalidation here on mediawiki.org? --Nemo 17:36, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Nemo bis: Generally I do not invalidate any translation unit unless the original text has changed significantly and the previous translations can't longer be rewritten from it. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 17:46, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Nemo bis: I have prepared a new page for translation as an example. Regards. —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 18:25, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Nemo bis: Any intention to review this request? —Alvaro Molina ( - ) 08:50, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      •   Support I know and trust this user. MacFan4000 (talk) 16:02, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      •   Oppose Based on his past misleading actions, I'm afraid I do not trust this user. Also note, he doesn't show a translation history that require the flag. He doesn't even seem to have performed any requests to translation admins. This is just hat-collecting. Platonides (talk) 23:52, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
        • @Platonides: Please elaborate on the misleading actions. MacFan4000 (talk) 01:12, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
          Hello MacFan4000.
It isn't a nice story, but I will try to expose the events that I attempted to lightly mention that way:
On May 2016, a trol started entering on irc from multiple proxies, he attacked many regular users (mostly insults, but also some death threats), and had a particular obsession on AlvaroMolina. The vandalism spanned many channels, and when he was banned and no longer able to disrupt there, also moved to the wiki projects. This went on for months, and it was common that he appeared several times a day. Many people worked banning those proxies and deleting the offending content: irc ops, freenode admins, bots, wiki sysops and Stewards. AlvaroMolina was an active part of this effort.
Then, five months later, it was discovered that AlvaroMolina itself was the trol, revealing that he had been acting on both sides. At this point he was removed many of his accesses. This was also communicated to the foundation, which studied the case for several months. The evidence did not come from the wiki, though, which made it weaker. Finally, the WMF did not take any office action against him.
More recently, he seems to have focused in hat-collecting, he has requested dozens of flags on the last months.
