edit- Requested user-rights: Administrator.
Hi. I would like Administrator rights here (to assist with m:Meta:MetaProject to transfer content to MediaWiki.org and mop up various messes), or at least Editor (Reviewer). I am: Jeff G., an Autopatroller, Reviewer, and Rollbacker on English Wikipedia; an Image-reviewer, Autopatroller, Rollbacker, and File mover on Wikimedia Commons; an Autopatroller on Wikimedia's Meta-Wiki; a Rollbacker on Simple English Wikipedia; a Steward, Bureaucrat, Sysop (TEST), Rollbacker, TW Confirmed user, and TW Editor on TestWiki; a Bureaucrat and Administrator on Wikimedia's Pending Changes prototype wiki, on TechWiki, on WiccaPedia, on AppleWiki, on the Admin Tools Wiki, and on The Test Wiki; an Administrator on TechEssentials, on the Wiki of WondUR, the James of UR Wiki, on RationalWiki (as a Sysop), on Test Wikipedia, on the English Wikimedia Labs Wiki, on the Wikimedia Labs Flagged Revisions Test Wiki, and on the Wikimedia Labs LiquidThreads Test Wiki; a Translator on Translatewiki.net; and a Betatester on Wikia Community Central. I am also active on WMF Bugzilla. My account is active on 708 WMF project sites (via SUL). You can find confirmation here and there. — Jeff G. ツ 05:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- We've declined or mokusatsu'd several such requests before because it is generally considered that everything worth importing has already been imported. Do you have examples of anything worth importing here? Note that Meta's desire to get rid of offtopic pages does not automatically mean that they should be moved here, deletion also works. - For starters, m:Category:MediaWiki, including its children m:Category:MediaWiki Development and m:Category:MediaWiki extensions. — Jeff G. ツ 17:43, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- And what pages in this categories do you consider useful for this wiki, exactly? It's mostly outdated or vaguely related crap. Max Semenik 18:06, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- So historical archival documentation and discussions, for MediaWiki versions and extensions that could still be in use, are not useful for users of this wiki? There are currently 149 direct pages, plus five categories containing 38 pages, in m:Category:Pages to be exported to MediaWiki.org. I have mentioned this discussion at m:Meta talk:MetaProject to transfer content to MediaWiki.org#Can_anyone_help.3F. — Jeff G. ツ 16:50, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

- Yes, historical discussions and random "proposals" that nobody but original posters know about aren't really useful. Next, there are lots of extensions, many of them are for ancient versions of MW, lots have glaring vulnerabilities. How useful are the former? Are you ready to review every extension you import for vulnerabilities to filter out the latter? We have lots of crappy extensions listed here, and the more we have, the more will be used as examples for writing moar crappy extensions. I've rejected or nominated for deletion some obviously unsuitable pages, but hte effort to review all of them would be HUGE. Max Semenik 17:02, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- There should be some mechanism (perhaps a new set of categories) to mark the historical discussions, proposals, and extension pages as historical and/or as dangerous. That would provide direction to users happening upon such pages. There is a reason behind each and every categorization in m:Category:Pages to be exported to MediaWiki.org - perhaps a new m:Meta:Requests for export to MediaWiki.org process modeled on m:Meta:Requests for deletion would be helpful for centralizing discussion of such pages for which that categorization is questioned. — Jeff G. ツ 16:48, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Putting aside "to assist with m:Meta:MetaProject to transfer content to MediaWiki.org" (the only reason addressed above), would you please consider the "[to] mop up various messes" reason? Thank you. — Jeff G. ツ 22:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- "and mop up various messes" , and what would these messes be? Peachey88 23:53, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Spam and other types of vandalism, items tagged for deletion, etc. — Jeff G. ツ 01:26, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Per IRC discussions with others: Not done the sysop rights, Haven't really shown a need for them at this stage. Done the editor right. Peachey88 00:02, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
