Who can edit the configuration

edit

Anyone with the right to edit the interface can edit the local configuration. Any other user can read the configuration.[1] We advise community members to define the configuration after consulting their community. Wikimedia Foundation teams that provide features can be contacted to provide advice on the configuration.

How configuration works

edit

The Community Configuration page is a form. That form edits the actual configuration files. These configuration files are JSON files, stored locally.

It is possible to edit the JSON files directly, the changes will be reflected on the Community Configuration form.

Like for any other page on wiki, each configuration has a history page. This history page is the JSON file history.

edit

The following features can be configured. Some of them might not be available at your wiki.

Troubleshooting

edit

Moving or deleting a JSON file used to configure a given feature will not block or remove the feature. Default settings will still apply. If you encounter a problem with a feature, please contact the team that maintains the feature.

Where can I translate Community Configuration's interface?
Interface translation is located at Translatewiki.net. A new account and onboarding will be required at this wiki.
I translated the entire Community Configuration interface but some sentences are not translated. Why?
Translations are separated into two: the Community Configuration interface itself and the extension that is offered for configuration. This means translating two different sets of sentences.
