Newcomer Homepage Community Updates module

We will add a new Community Configurable module to the Newcomer Homepage that will allow communities to highlight specific events, projects, campaigns, and initiatives. We have released a simple version available to beta wikis and we start testing it at our pilot wikis for an A/B test at our pilot wikis using the new Metrics Platform.

Title, logo, description, call to action... All Community Updates module's elements have been documented.

We still welcome community feedback on initial designs and plans, in any language at our project talk page.

Constructive activation experimentation

As part of our annual plan, we explore various ways to increase constructive activation on mobile.

During Wikimania in Katowice, we conducted some user testing to review the different designs we have created.

Community Configuration work continues

This extension was developed to help communities customize wiki features to meet their unique needs.

For the time being, the Growth team is working on providing components to other Wikimedia Foundation teams so that they can make their products configurable. This allowed the Moderation Tools team to provide Community Configuration for Automoderator at Turkish Wikipedia.

Soon, all wikis will have access to Community Configuration, as we plan to make the Babel extension community configurable. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T328171
