And is there a better tutorial/explanation how to create the forms that are needed for this extension to work

69.168.167.59 (talkcontribs)

I have it installed, but it doesn't save annotations that are made

Are you aware of this? https://web.hypothes.is/ Haven't really looked into it yet, but there might be some in for annotations within SMW

I would like to download the lastest 0.5.1 version to install on sandbox.smw.o. Where is the link?

Since this extension is not hosted on a public repo. What is the easiest way to propose code changes?

Hello,

that's a a nice idea. I think a GitHub is useful for such a purpose. I created a GitHub repo[1].

I will edit the download link on the webpage to this link to have always the latest version available.

Feel free to propose code changes there.

Cheers

Tobi

Cool, just authored the first code change. :)

Thanks for this, Oliver. Although I haven't been able to test this so far, I do have a couple of preliminary comments/questions:

  • Is this extension an example of what is sometimes referred to as "stand-off annotation" - annotation made from the outside, as it were, rather than provided inline?
  • A comment recently made on Extension talk:Semantic Image Annotator is also relevant here: it would be good if more than one custom form could be used for different kinds of texts and probably even for the same text. In the context of using source texts for teaching Latin, for example, you could have a form for commenting on syntax and grammar (linking to relevant pages through SF's autocompletion), another for the use of diction, and another for intertextuality, etc.
  • Could you add the namespace to Extension default namespaces?

I would like to see this applied one day to texts that have been marked up in TEI/XML if and when there is sufficient support for this in MediaWiki. I'm jumping ahead here I'm afraid, but "a man's gotta dream", as they say.
