The LookupUser extension allows to retrieve information about a user such as email address, user ID and the user preferences, i.e. everything that the user has specified in their preferences.

This extension also displays the last time a user either made a login, or any edit, which it lists as the "User record last touched:" time and date element of its log. (This will be displayed as UTC even if you've set a custom time zone/the server's time zone is different.)

Installation

  • Download and move the extracted LookupUser folder to your extensions/ directory.
    Developers and code contributors should install the extension from Git instead, using:cd extensions/
    git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/mediawiki/extensions/LookupUser
  • Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php file:
    wfLoadExtension( 'LookupUser' );
    // Who can use Special:LookupUser?
    // If you want that sysops can use it:
    #$wgGroupPermissions['*']['lookupuser'] = false;
    #$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['lookupuser'] = true;

    // Or, do you want a new user group for this.
    // (users with the 'userrights' right can add users to this group only bureaucrats by default)
    $wgGroupPermissions['*']['lookupuser'] = false;
    $wgGroupPermissions['lookupuser']['lookupuser'] = true;

  •   Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.
