Hi Lewis, Thanks for the great extension. I am using GumaxDD skin and have successfully installed your extension. So, when I look in Special:Version, I can see that the extension has been correctly installed. And, I can see in top right corner of my menu which says 'sitemeter' but when i click it, it opens as a empty page and i dont see any data there. Could you please tell me what I have done.

When you say in step 4 "Add your Site Meter HTML/JS code in your LocalSettings.php file using $wgSiteMeterMW = 'Site Meter code here';". do you mean to say that I should insert some special codes? If so, could you please tell me where I can find these codes?

Hi, see my reply on the Extension talk:Site Meter for MediaWiki page! Thanks, --Lcawte 08:57, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Interested in a trip to improve MediaWiki documentation?

Did you know about the Doc Camp this October?

"Individuals with a passion for free documentation about free software may apply to attend by filling out the application form and submitting before 5 August, 2011.... Accommodation and food will be covered by the GSoC Doc Camp. Part or complete travel costs can also be applied for as part of the application process."

I'm going to send a proposal to get MediaWiki into the Doc Camp and to have us do a Quick Sprint to improve MediaWiki's documentation. Please let me know if you know people I should include in my proposal, including you!

SiteMeter Extension Question

Hi Lewis, I am trying to add sitemeter to my wiki and so nice to see that you have developed the extension. I have followed your instruction and pretty sure that I followed the steps correctly, but I cannot see a logo for sitemeter on my wiki nor sitemeter reports visits to my site. What could I have done incorrectly. Here is my page: http://people.clemson.edu/~AVAHIDI/index.php/Main_Page

appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.

Fun Languages

Are you going to update this Extension:Fun MediaWiki Languages?

Hello Lcawte,

Could you please tell me, if there's a bot that could be run from an oversight account that could oversight history revisions in media files on commons, using a list of files that should be oversighted.Thanks.--Ttyy (talk) 02:21, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, this should be possible with a custom script, I'm pretty sure there is an API for oversighting, I'd have to look into it though, and of course, you'd have to make sure its cleared for a bot to run with oversight powers, as it could do damage... --Lcawte (talk) 13:12, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for response! So, will you get back to me with the exact instructions how to proceed, assuming an oversigher will agree to do it for me? Thanks.--Ttyy (talk) 17:25, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Movement Wide Finance Report 2014

Dear Lcawte,

I’m Alex, currently a finance fellow (i.e intern) at the Wikimedia Foundation. I worked before for Wikimedia France, planning the Hackathon Lyon 2015 where we met. I hope you're doing fine! I'm today contacting you because of your activity for Wikimedia Farmers User Group.

Last year, Finance Fellows produced a financial report that included financial activity from every chapters. It was great and has been presented at the Wikimania in Mexico.

If you haven’t seen the results of the Report 2013, here they are: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapter-wide_Financial_Trends_Report_2013

We’re currently starting the Report 2014 and this year we also want to include user groups to improve the scope of our work. I want to tell you that I’ve tried to make the process as short and easy as possible, so that shouldn’t require a lot of your time.

The aim of such a report is global. It helps having an idea of how the money is used across the movement, it helps chapters and user groups to learn about best practice and finally it leads to more transparency through a qualitative work, which I believe is important.

Could you briefly tell me if you had any income and expenses in 2014? If you are not the person responsible for this, please tell me who is the user the most likely to know this information.

I’ll be your contact for this project this year, I’m looking forward to working with you!

How we will see unregistered users

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
