- hi, hope you don't mind if i pass on a late request. - i was talking to an archivist, who expressed the desire for a simplified method of uploading works into wikisource. is there interest in developing a wizard for interested editors?
- process flow = upload pdf to commons -> automatically convert to dejavu -> automatically create work & toc at source -> automatically match and split pages at source ?
- (for automatically read, semi-automatically with a pop up box, fill in the blank, or auto fill meta-data) a lot of work; but lowering the barrier would generate a lot of interest. Slowking4 (talk) 16:43, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! That's a really cool idea, and I can see how it would be really useful to Wikisource. Having gone through the process of converting PDF to DJVU myself, even a simplified version of that alone would be useful... That said, maybe you should suggest this over at Summer of Code 2013 so that all GSoC applicants can see it! GorillaWarfare (talk) 21:37, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Molly, the collection extension really deserves some improvements. You stated quite a few issues that could benefit from good coding skills and some love. But I think you have way more items on your list than could possibly be finished in just a few weeks. On which items would you like to focus your work? In my opinion, the most beneficial would be to extend the collection extension to the missing projects (Wikisource etc.). Ckepper (talk) 20:35, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- I agree—I was never intending to try to tackle all of these issues at once. I've begun working on my final proposal at User:GorillaWarfare/Proposal. It's less to do with the Collection extension and more to do with Extension:BookManager. However, I think once the BookManager extension has been improved a bit and deployed, it will make many of the issues regarding Collection and Wikisource or Wikibooks much easier to solve. - Sorry, I hadn't read your proposal when I wrote this comment. I am not too familiar with the book manager extension, but it seems like a good starting point for getting to a more solid "book standard" within the various projects. Ckepper (talk) 22:16, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
