FBConnect in Wikimedia's svn

edit

Hey. I think you may be having a nice project going. Have you considered requesting developer rights, and maintain it in the Wikimedia subversion repo? siebrand 18:49, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I would like to maintain the wiki in the Wikimedia svn repo if possible. I'm back from winter break, so the changes should come rolling in pretty soon - I've already fixed a bug or two since yesterday. Should I ask you, brion, tim or who for developer rights? Any of them should be fine. Best catch one of them on IRC, and ask for details. They'll probably say to drop a mail containing your public key for ssh connect and a sentence or two on what you are planning to do with your commit bit. siebrand 21:22, 17 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

FBConnect in Wikimedia's svn 2

edit

Someone checked your FBConnect extension into the MediaWiki SVN repository a while ago (r67130). It was just removed (r77742). You have commit access, so have you considered checking it in yourself? That would allow it to benefit from things like Translatewiki without messy forking. —Emufarmers(T|C) 21:45, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up! I put FBConnect on hold about two months ago, and hopefully I can do some maintenance on it this holiday season (a week or two from now). Wikia has a long list of stability and security fixes that need to be merged. I think I have commit access for the extensions tree (though I never have been able to get SVN to set eol:native properly and always get reprimanded when I commit :D) Thanks again for the message --Gbruin 21:59, 5 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Facebook extension

edit

Hi, I was getting ready to create your repository and copy over the existing history from GitHub, but I had a quick question. You asked for the name "mediawiki/extensions/Facebook", but I'm afraid this is a little vague (since many extensions could potentially do things involving Facebook). Since your extension is about implementing Facebook's OpenGraph, might I suggest the name FacebookOpenGraph? Is this something that would be alright with you? Thanks. ^demon (talk) 16:38, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sure --Gbruin (talk)
Alright, you should be all squared away now. Repo created as "mediawiki/extensions/FacebookOpenGraph". I imported all of the existing branches & tags for you from github. Let me know if you have any problems. ^demon (talk) 20:36, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Setting up the Facebook extension with my wiki

Thanks for the heads up! I get email notifications, and I'll try to get an answer/help up as soon as I can (sometimes takes me a day or two)

Scouting in Ventura

That's cool, my grandma was the treasurer for the Ventura County Council many years ago, not that many people ever walked up to the top of the Council building to say hi to her. ;) Banaticus (talk) 03:59, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

sorry to bother you on your talk page

edit

sorry to bother you on your talk page, but as you know, often these extension questions are never answered.

LOVE the idea of this extension, thank you for help creating it!

I really need this facebook extension to fight spam on my wiki.

Here is the problem I face:

Facebook needs the CURL PHP extension

Special:Version:

MediaWiki 1.16.0 (r78352)
PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.10 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.8

Unexpected non-MediaWiki exception encountered, of type "Exception"
exception 'Exception' with message 'Facebook needs the CURL PHP extension.'
in /home/trav/public_html/deadrisingwiki.com/public/w/extensions/Facebook/facebook-php-sdk/base_facebook.php:19
...

Any help would be very much most appreciated. Igottheconch (talk) 08:28, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't think any of my code requires CURL, it looks like the Facebook SDK is trying to pull in that dependency. You can try updating the Facebook SDK (https://github.com/facebook/facebook-php-sdk), but it looks like the most recent version (April 2013) also requires CURL [1]. Check the network page and look for forks that remove the CURL requirement. Assuming none do, you should fork the Facebook SDK and make CURL optional, then send me an email with a link to your fork and I'll include it in the extension. Or, you know, install CURL. -Gbruin (talk) 05:44, 14 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
And thanks for updating the extension page -Gbruin (talk)
thank you for your time, I will update my question on the talk page with you response to help others. Igottheconch (talk) 16:47, 20 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I installed Extension:WikiCurl, it works fine, but when i run the facebook extension I get the same CURL error. Suggestions? thank you again! enjoy your week! Igottheconch (talk) 04:26, 21 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello Gbuin, thank you again for replying.

I am not sure what you are referring to. By "forks" do you mean wiki sites that remove the CURL requirement?

Any suggestions on how I can do this? I am running 1.16 - maybe there is an earlier version that I can download?

Again, thank you for your time. Igottheconch (talk) 18:41, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Gbruin, sorry to bother you suddenly, but that particular image hasn't been used on any page in at least five years. Tropicalkitty (talk) 08:29, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
