Dear Color probe, Welcome to MediaWiki.org!
Yes, Welcome! This site is dedicated to the documentation of the MediaWiki software, the software behind many wikis, including that of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation projects.
Please, take a look at the following pages. They might prove useful to you as a newcomer here:
If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and find this site a beneficial documentation of the MediaWiki software.

- The official sig for support team members is out at Project:Support_desk/Support_team#Official_Sig, use it if you wish. -PatPeter, MediaWiki Support Team 15:05, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- I like it, however, due to the signature limit, I've changed it a bit for myself. —color probe (talk | contribs | Support team) 18:56, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah your sig looks hella of a lot better than before! :) -PatPeter, MediaWiki Support Team 20:16, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Upgrade to 1.10.2 from 1.9 fails
editand My wiki now says
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was: (SQL query hidden) from within function "Title::loadRestrictions". MySQL returned error "1146: Table 'wikidb.netpage_restrictions' doesn't exist (localhost)".
If I go back to mediawiki-1.9.4 everything works. I imagine it was a fix for the vulnerability but now it is so secure I cannot use it. Has anyone had this problem?
I have gone to the MediaWiki 1.10.2 installation page - no joy.
I did their suggested mv LocalSettings.php to LocalSettings.php.old and the setup file does not work entirely (I can fill in the first three fields and there is no submit or next button to finish. I did the refreshLinks.php and the other suggested fixes - no joy.
Has anyone else had this problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.127.220.45 (talk • contribs)
- These questions belong to Project:Support desk. However, I think you should run the update.php commandline script from the maintenance folder. Sorry for such a late and short answer, but I'm rather busy these days. —color probe (talk | contribs | Support team) 13:20, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Unblock
editHello CP, you know how large of a contributor I am here at this wiki. I was in my opinion unjustly blocked from Wikipedia. If you could put a word in at wikipedia:User talk:PatPeter, I would be grateful. -PatPeter, MediaWiki Support Team 17:01, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have any reasonable stance on this. If you can, get it to something like Requests for comment or the ArbCom. I don't really have time for MediaWiki/Wikipedia business now, but if all else fails, email me and I might give it a more thorough view. I thin my time here is done. I wish you the best of luck on the Support desk and reformatting it. —color probe (talk | contribs | Support team) 23:53, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
