Understanding the STV result
editRegarding this edit to Understanding the STV result - why did you change it to "3.75 votes" when the formula above shows the total as "4 votes" ?
Also please check my edit. Shenme (talk) 05:42, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- And why the heck are there two copies of this description, one at meta.wikimedia.org and one at www.mediawiki.org ? Argh! I'll go fix the droop quota formula the other place, and after checking my 3.75 query, please you go fix that also at the other place. Shenme (talk) 05:57, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Shenme: Because 0.25 votes (belonging to the Voter 6) gets wasted (exhausted) and does not get counted. In this picture, it should be clear. Please focus on the blue bar, and see how a fraction of the vote by Voter 6 turns into the white color in the last count, because it cannot be transferred to any other candidate.
- I fixed all three (!) pages. 4nn1l2 (talk) 08:53, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, but now the equation
2 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 1.5 = 3.75
is veeery confusing. Perhaps the exhausted part of the vote should be somehow marked (e.g. in different color) as should be also marked appropriate part of the description below the equation. It took me a while to understand WTF is going on. --jdx Re: 08:51, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, but now the equation
