I'm taking care on Biology Department of Warsaw University wiki. It's connected to CAS and has some special features like: protected pages and protected files, both using passwords.
I've managed also to make mhchem work with texvc that allows using simple \ce{} for displaying chemistry formulas within mediawiki. Take a look at the bottom of site: http://wiki.biol.uw.edu.pl/w/Wiki:Brudnopis
