What's up:

Right now I'm trying to track down and figure out how to work with skins a bit.

Folks here seem to believe everyone has an "expert" level of understanding on the syntax and verbiage used with respect to MediaWiki and understand how the system is put together as an administrator, with full access to the server and all server files.

Well, I'm working on a site and building many pieces for it as a contributor (I have sysop rights on the site). Once I get the pieces put together, I can and will submit them to folks who can have them put in place in a more permanent fashion. While I design the various components and looks, I work through the wiki interface, using it the same as any user on the site would. From what I've seen, this is not uncommon in the real world of how wiki's are run yet most of the information I've dug up is buried in off-hand corners that makes figuring out, and documenting for others, how these things work a major project in and of itself.

Whereas I have been collecting a lot of this information on the site I've been working on, I think I'll start posting my "discoveries" here on this site along in a "dummies that are techies" style for others, who are not "initiates to the hierophant circle".
