No solution known.

On a private wiki, anonymous users cannot see the email confirmation page /Special:ConfirmEmail/[token], therefore the email cannot be confirmed.

Ouch. Just a question. Were you able to show the history page, instead?

Thank you for the answer, but my community abandoned using Media Wiki: it did not suit our needs.
