It's a shame that the box for configuring the edit filters covers the user's watchlist. It means that, despite the changes taking effect in real time, the user cannot see the effect that their changes are having. I would like for the edit filter box to be a detachable panel, or a new window, or for there to be some other way that the user can actually see the result of what they are doing, without having to close and open the box repeatedly.

Yes, this box. You can see fragments of my obscured watchlist to the right of the edit box.
The box is not supposed to remain open if you've closed it.
What happen when you click outside of this box? Any click outside is supposed to close it; press Esc works too.
I can't reproduce the issue, so I suspect an issue with one of your scripts/gadgets. Do you still have the issue when you access the watchlist with this special link? If no, please follow the instructions about broken scripts and report here.

Captainllama, changing the panel requires a significant work. I've documented it, but it is very unlikely to see this change made in the future.
