I really wonder why nobody asked for that yet and it is not included in the FAQ (yes, I've read it), but is it planned to translate only a part of an article?

I.e. I e.g. have an paragraph that I want to translate from an existing English article and thus add this paragraph to the existing German article, which does not have this paragraph yet?

Doing this manually (with proper attribution) is also a very hard (and somewhat technical) thing, so I would really like if a tool could help me here, but currently this does not seem to be possible with it, here.

Content translation was initially focused on the creation of new articles, but the scenario you describe makes perfect sense. This ticket captures some ideas in this area that we plan to explore in the future.

Currently you can follow this workaround: create a new translation, focus only on the remaining paragraphs to translate. Select your user namespace from the publishing options to make sure the translated paragraphs are published in a separate copy of the page. Finally, you can later copy the content to the final article (and use the edit summary to add the attribution details).

This workaround is not ideal and we plan to support it better. Currently our focus for the new version of Content translation is on supporting amore solid editing experience, but once the version becomes the default we'll consider support for new usecases like this one next.
