Topic on Help talk:Tabular data

Hi folks,

I'm creating a series of tables for UK local council data. Where a council has changed its name without changing boundaries I want the old name to redirect to the new name in the Data namespace. Is this possible? "#REDIRECT" throws a syntax error.

Redirect page (old name): commons:Data:UK Councils/Changes/North Down and Ards 2014.tab

Target page (new name): commons:Data:UK Councils/Changes/Ards and North Down_2014.tab

Found a temporary solution: give an empty table with the wikitext link in the Sources.

There is a patch for that in gerrit, but the work stalled a bit. Please encourage devs to do it by commenting at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T153598
