It should be possible to do block-level language editing
editThis is clearly crucial, and is something we are working on. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 22:02, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
The highlight on text with language settings is a bit mysterious
editNot sure that the faint grey background is optimal. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 22:03, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- mysterious how? Fish24 (talk) 23:53, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- Fish24: It's just grey, without saying what it means except on hover. Maybe there is a better way we could explain visually what it means without needing the hovering? Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 01:01, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Support existing templates?
editTemplates like Template:Lang on enwp are already widely used. Could this feature support such templates? Danmichaelo (talk) 19:46, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- +1
- There are Lang, Langi (italicizing the text), Lang-xx (prepending the language name). AVRS (talk) 16:14, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
- There is a problem though. One user reverted my mass addition of "lang" to a phrase repeated in an article, and said it was annoying especially with the VisualEditor. With templates, it is shorter in code, but in VisualEditor it appears with blue background when hovered (supposedly a generic “template” indication), and needs waiting or clicking to see the template name, and two clicks to see the attributes.
- Maybe the editor could ignore such templates by default, so people not editing the tagged text would not be bothered by it? AVRS (talk) 16:17, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Deactivated all Beta features
editToday I deactivated all Beta features. First: the talk-pages are only in English. I don't know whether I could only post feedback in English or in other languages and I know, many people don't give feedback at all because of this. Second: I will not test any software from the WMF, until the Foundation keeps the superprotect right, which is a thread to all communities. Don-kun (talk) 11:13, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
