Snippets/Hide prefix in category: I have tried and tried to make this snippet work, but to no avail. Can anyone offer ANY help?

Hidden category prefix sometimes needs to be displayed

The template "Hidecategoryprefix" hides a text on all pages (the English and its translated pages). But sometimes the text should not be hidden.

In this category, the first page listed (in the "Pages in category MediaWiki hooks" section) is "Manual:Hooks".

If you change the language, the displayed name is, for example for Deutch: "de"; for Espanol: "es"; for French, "fr"; instead of "Manual:Hooks/de_or_es_or_fr".

The reason is the template "Hidecategoryprefix|Manual:Hooks/" which hides, on English and translated pages, the text "Manual:Hooks/" which is a good thing for all other links of these pages, but not for these specific links.

One solution could be to prevent hidding the prefix when the other part of the text is just a language name (de, fr, es...).

The name of the link "de" or "fr" will be more clear. Mahabarata73 (talk) 12:19, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
