edit@Cscott: I notice it uses [[Figure:Foobar.jpg|200px]], rather than [[File:Foobar.jpg|200px]]. Is this proposed in another RFC?
Also, this is a basic question, but is this proposing to crop the images, scale them without preserving aspect ratio, or just construct a square container element around a (potentially rectangular) image? Superm401 - Talk 01:33, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, the [[Figure..]] was just a typo --- Parsoid uses <figure> in its output HTML so I often get these crossed in my head.
- Right now it is just scaling the image, preserving aspect ratio, such that it fits inside the given square box. The actual resulting container isn't square -- that is, we don't lead extra whitespace at the top/sides. There is a different bug somewhere that requested a 'crop' mode, but I'm not touching that at the moment; it would require more backend work with the WP scalers, cache infrastructure, etc. cscott (talk) 18:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
