Trying to get a feel for how ambitious you want to be with this project.

My initial thought is that the approach depends on the size of the document, how the document is represented, and how many concurrent users editing the single document are desired.

• The discussion I had with Neil considered some largescale concurrency along the lines of collaboration on a national constitution or other topic of interest to millions, with tens of thousands of contributors/commentators.

• I don't see straight OT working for large documents (> 5 paragraphs, 500 words) with large numbers of concurrent users (> 100), which leads to some sort of approach for automated segmentation of the document.

• With a larger number of concurrent users on a single document node, a formal approach to mediation/editorial control seems to be advantageous. Some sort of end-user visualization of the concurrency/revision structure during editing also seems to be valuable.

Most use cases will be less than a dozen concurrent editors. Anything more than that could revert to the traditional case for now. Sj (talk) 05:52, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

New ideas about visualizing integration
