My short question regards some stats, How many have downloaded MediaWiki and how many wikis is out there approximately?

Jimbo Wales' programming

Jimbo notes that he has some programming skills. How much of the programming necessary to implement Wikipedia did Jimbo do personally? I'm guessing his contribution to the MediaWiki core, if any, isn't that much, since he isn't listed at Special:Version. What about the UseModWiki days, and Nupedia? Elaborate the pre-history?

Hi, I was intrigued by the w:UseModWiki section, and on that page I see that the source code is directly descended from AtisWiki, then maybe loosely descended from CvWiki and WikiBase. I'd love to enrich this section, credit authors. Also, the first two sentences about Wikipedia make me itch to reword slighty. Adamw (talk) 01:02, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
