My apologies, I don't quite understand. "In order to know if Special:EditGrowthConfig is used by communities, we now instrument page loads and saves of configuration." Is instrument a verb here? what does this sentence mean?
Talk:Growth/Newsletters/22
Yes, it’s a verb, see en:Instrumentation (computer programming). Since probably you’re not the only one who doesn’t know what it means, I went ahead and added the link to the newsletter as well.
My bad, I should have explained it a bit more. It is always the problem when you work on something for years: you get used to the vocabulary and hence you sometimes forget that it is not the case of everyone else. Sorry.
@Trizek (WMF): The current wording says “With this deployment, administrators will be able to edit the mentors' list.” This gives the impression that currently no one can edit the mentors’ list (apart from the entry of themselves). This is only partially true: currently (AFAIK) only the mentor themselves can set their status to “away” (or reset to “active”), but anyone, even logged-out users, can edit the mentors’ list, quitting mentors or adding new ones, unless that page is protected. Please change the wording to reflect this dichotomy in the old design.
Good point! Anyone can edit the mentors page (if not protected as advised -- most lists are autopatrolled-level protected). The new system will only allow admins and mentors to edit the page. I will clarify the sentence, thank you for spotting it!
