Methodology and revisions
editDue to the open nature of wikis, the technical writer does not need to get approval prior to publishing. If the technical writer feels it’s necessary, they can share for review prior to publishing, through the Zulip channel or through a wiki talk page.
Project progress will be tracked on Project:MediaWiki documentation on Meta-Wiki/List by updating the lists there.

Compensation
editThe project budget is USD 12150, to be paid according to the following split of two payments tied to specific deliverables:
- 40% in June, following the completion of phase 1 as outlined in the project proposal.
- 60% in December, following project completion, which includes phase 2, phase 3, and the project wrap-up as outlined in the project proposal.
Payments are conditioned on the work being completed in accordance with the scope of work and deliverables as defined in the project proposal. Payments will be made with the Wikimedia Foundation’s Payoneer account.
Payments will be in USD, with each party responsible for their respective fees: any payment origination fees covered by the Wikimedia Foundation, any payment reception fees covered by the payee. Any currency conversion is the responsibility of the payee.
Payment dates will be dependent on availability of funds received from Google Season of Docs, according to their grants for organizations documentation.
Invoices
editTo receive payment, the payee must provide an invoice according to the guidance below:
- Must include the amount of the payment specified in USD.
- Must have a description of the work done, and the amount of time (normally in hours) spent on work or time covered (normally in months).
- The payee must include their payment information and billing address.
- The payee's name must match the billing contact.
- If the invoice requires a “billed to” address, the Wikimedia Foundation’s HQ address below can be used:
Wikimedia Foundation Inc. One Sansome Street, Suite 1895 San Francisco, CA 94104 USA
You can find examples of invoices at Open Source Collective.
Invoices can be submitted and will be approved as soon as the project team considers the deliverable to have been completed. Payments will be possible as soon as the Wikimedia Foundation receives its funding from Google Season of Docs (40% in June 2024, 60% in December 2024).
Invoices should be submitted using a secure method, such as the secure mail feature in Gmail.
Regarding descriptions
editInvoices need a clear description of services rendered and provide sufficient detail to make it clear what Wikimedia Foundation is paying for. This is because this description may be checked by our accountant for compliance. That means that someone with no knowledge of your project, and only a limited knowledge of open source, should be able to understand what was done from the description.
For this project, descriptions and amounts of work can be based directly on deliverables as defined in the proposal.
