i have set new site but unable to show images

  • MediaWiki version: 1.15.2
  • PHP version: 5.2
  • MySQL version:
  • URL: www.kundrabansal.com/wiki

I have set new website for my client, the site is configured but the images are not showing i have used the instruction File:Imagename.jpgbut it is just showing the link. I have put the image in images folder in root directory.

Is there any template available to design the pages as well

Edit: I am also experiencing this same problem. I have inserted $wgAllowExternalImagesFrom in the LocalSettings.php file, and still no images will show. Only Links. --209.252.49.46 15:09, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I had the same problem and I fixed it by deleting the .htaccess file in the /images directory. (It's a hidden file, ls -a if you can't see it.) --98.224.229.100 13:50, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

403 Forbidden error for newly uploaded images

I've just recently enabled Special:Upload but for some reason whenever a new file is uploaded it cannot be viewed. Although it appears in the NewFiles log the image appears as a box with a red "x" in the top left hand corner and when clicked gives the following message: "Forbidden. You don't have permission to access /wiki/images/1/13/Test_image.PNG on this server." I have managed to upload some images however, it turns out that whenever an image is uploaded it has a new directory created for it without the correct permissions which means I have to actually physically log in to FTP and adjust the permissions before the image can be viewed. Can I please have some help regarding this? 84.13.40.118 20:47, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Internal Error

70.176.16.85 23:59, 6 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am attempting to upload images, each time that I do I receive the following error:

Could not copy file "/tmp/phpcYtvTx" to "/var/www/vhosts/fantasymakersindustries.com/httpdocs/wiki/images/temp/20100506235707!Ceithlennimage1.jpg".

How do I fix this?

(resolved) Captions not displaying

  • MediaWiki version: 1.15.3
  • PHP version: 5.2.5 (cgi-fcgi)
  • MySQL version: 4.1.24-max-log
  • URL: www.medinabeekeepers.com/wiki/

I came here to figure out why my captions are not displaying properly. Looking at the Help:Images page, I realized that it's not my installation because I can't see captions under the Example Images in this wiki either. Captions display only when the "thumbs" or "frame" option are selected. With "frameless", "border" or omitted, the caption refuses to display.

Looking at the pagesource of the displayed page, the caption is apparently not even being presented to the browser in those examples.

If it's relevant, I am browsing with Internet Explorer 7.0 though I had similar problems on Firefox. Rossami 23:42, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Turns out it's a problem of definition and explanation, not function. We are working to clarify the Help page appropriately. There does still seem to be a problem where the mouseover captions fail to display in some browsers. My current hypothesis is that it's an incompatible security setting. But that will deserve a separate writeup once it's reliably traced. Rossami 22:03, 26 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Problem with loading images from Commons

  • MediaWiki version: 1.15.1
  • PHP version: 5.2.4
  • MySQL version: 5.0.45
  • URL:

Hi,

I put the following code in, to allow use of images on Commons.

$wgForeignFileRepos[] = array(

 'class'                   => 'ForeignAPIRepo',
 'name'                    => 'shared',
 'apibase'                 => 'http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php',
 'fetchDescription'        => true, // Optional
 'descriptionCacheExpiry'  => 43200, // 12 hours, optional
 'apiThumbCacheExpiry' => 43200, // 12 hours, optional, but required for local thumb caching

);

However, I get the following error: Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in [here goes a URL]/GlobalFunctions.php on line 2012, above every article page. Articles are however loaded, and the images from Commons show up. What could trigger this error? How can I solve it?

Check filesystem permissions for your images/ directory. Max Semenik 13:15, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
images-directory has permission 755, and the subdirectories too. Sophies choice 13:22, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
