Wiki Techstorm
Are you interested in technology? Can you work with spreadsheets or do you learn / work in other areas with databases or software and do you want to improve your skills? Then you are invited to register for the Wiki TechStorm.
The Wiki Techstorm was a medium sized hackathon in the Netherlands on October 26th & 27th in 2018.
Wikimedia Netherlands has a longstanding history organising hackathons and GLAM camps. Previous events were held in 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011.
The Women Techstorm part I was a small woman-only hackathon (non-binary welcome), that was held in the Netherlands in 2018 from 10-12 May. The Wiki Techstorm was the follow-up event, to which first all 22 participants from Part I were invited. The Wiki Techstorm was bigger and open to all genders: we aimed for an equal representation of all genders and backgrounds.
We offered all attendees lunch on Friday and Saturday and dinner at Friday. We could not reimburse travel- or accommodation costs: please turn to your local chapter, the Foundation or a third party if you need such.
Registration
Registrations have been closed. We invited 50 people to join us in this open Techstorm, to come and learn at the National Library in the Hague. Registration did not guarantee a place at the Wiki Techstorm; a selection has been made from all submissions. Confirmations of attendance have been send, please check your mailbox.
To participate, you do not have to be some ICT genius. We are looking for women, men and non-binary people with an interest in ICT at all levels of experience. Are you interested in this work and can you work with spreadsheets (e.g. LibreOffice Calc), or do you learn and work in other areas with databases or software? Or do you work on or with the Wikimedia project professionally, for instance in a GLAM institute? Do not hesitate to register and indicate where your interest lies. Together we can work on the sum of all knowledge! Participation is free of charge and it includes entrance and meals.
Location
The National Library in The Hague, Netherlands. Four rooms are available during the day: three will be reserved for workshops, the other is for plenary stuff, working, coding, hacking and learning at your own pace.
