Maps

Maps refers mostly to two major extensions allowing to add maps to wiki pages:

• Maps extension, the most popular mapping extension used on various non-Wikimedia wikis
  • Maps extension help – user help documentation
• Kartographer extension, which is used by Wikimedia, and uses Wikimedia's Maps service
  • Kartographer extension help – user help documentation

Since August 2021 third-party wikis API queries on Wikimedia's Maps service are blocked.

Maps project may refer to:

• Wikimedia Maps – where developments relating to Wikimedia maps are announced and discussed after July of 2018
• Map improvements 2018 – improvement project that lasted from March 2018 until the end of June 2018
• Maps project (2015-2017) – initial creation and development of the Kartographer extension and related cartographical technologies
