Manual talk:User rights (older versions)
Discuss Help:User rights management page here:
Moving to Manual
editFor the same reasons as the Help:User rights page, this all needs to be moved out of the Help pages, and merged into the Manual pages.
See discussion at Help talk:User rights#Propose move to manual
...as a side note though, I'm not clear why this page needs to exist alongside that other page, or why we have some much information about old unsupported versions.

- I don't have any problem with moving this page. But what do you mean with information about old unsupported versions? 1) I only recently made this page and 2) this page tells about 1.11, the most recent version of MediaWiki and about 1.12, not even released. SPQRobin 18:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry. I was talking bollocks. I thought this was a very out-of-date old page, but I was just misreading the version numbers (only looked at it very quickly).
- I'm not sure if it's clear what information belongs on Help:User rights as opposed to here on Help:User rights management. Maybe they should be merged. I don't know. One to figure out later maybe. In any case I'll go ahead with a move to the Manual some time soon.

- There is a difference between those pages. Help:User rights answers on the question Which group has or should have which rights? and Help:User rights management answers on the question Which group manages/assigns or should manage/assign which group?. Both pages are related, though there is a difference. I don't think that information about for example $wgAddGroups belong on Help:User rights. Actually, the page should be called Help:User groups management. And, if they would be merged, the page would be too long, imo. SPQRobin 18:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Re: the 'old versions' issue, above (even if it is not the case that this page holds info about old versions): In general information about 'old unsupported' versions of MediaWiki is encouraged. In particular, it should never be deleted (though it may be moved to an 'in older versions' section (or separate page) if it is clouding the issue for current versions. --HappyDog 16:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
prints blank page
editWhen printing this page, I get just the title at the top of output page 1; the rest of the page is blank, and the content starts on page 2. Doesn't matter whether or not I choose Printable Version. Firefox 3.5.7, WinXP + SP3. Thnidu 23:07, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
$wgAddGroups['sysop'] = array( 'autoconfirmed');
editI take it this won't work, though? Tisane 18:00, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Warning posed by Pywikipediabot
editI wanted to include this in the article, but I was not sure where, this is the warning I got when I was running Pywikipediabot's meta:Pywikipediabot/imageharvest.py:
- WARNING: Your account on dead:en does not have a bot flag. Its edits will be visible in the recent changes and it may get blocked.
I found this page through the Meta:Bot page, which links to this page:
- Setting bot access – information for people running their own MediaWiki installation.
You need to change Special:UserRights checking bot. Then save user groups. Adamtheclown 02:56, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
